MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
DRESS CODE REMINDER
Thank you so much for your patience the first week of school regarding ongoing construction and changing traffic patterns! I just wanted to send a quick reminder of certain requirements to parents regarding the 2016-2017 WISD Dress Code:
- Shorts and skirts must be “finger-tip length,” that is the length cannot be shorter than the level where the finger tips fall when the student’s hands are at his/her sides. Skirts featuring high slits above “finger-tip length” are not appropriate for school.
- All shirts must have sleeves. Tank tops are not permitted.
- Tight-fitting clothing is not permitted without a covering garment that when worn alone meets the other guidelines of this dress code.
- Body piercing is restricted to the ear and a stud in the nose. Bandages, tape, or other coverings used for the express purpose of covering body piercing jewelry and spacers will not be allowed.
- “Gauging” of the ears, or any part of the body, is prohibited.
To find the full list of dress code requirements, you can visit the Parent or Student section of the WISD website and a link will be on the right side.

TISON ROO IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Austin Markwardt, 7th grader
Mrs. Lawes, the Tison Theater Arts teacher nominated Austin to be a "Tison Roo in the Spotlight":
"I am nominating Austin because he has been an absolute pleasure to have in class! It's only the 2nd day of school and already he's volunteered in several capacities (greeting at the door, passing out papers, reading for the class, etc.) He has a "can do, will do" attitude and I think its rubbing off on his peers! I think Austin should be nominated because he's the kind of student that deserves recognition for his efforts in class. He genuinely wants to do well, cares about class, and has an attitude that I think other students can look to as an example. He is a definite leader!"
In order to get to know Austin a little better, he completed a simple survey and below are his answers:
What do you most look forward to when you wake up in the morning and why?
To see my friends because, I love hanging out with my friends at school.
In a word, describe school.
