Sebastian River Times
May 2023

Hello SRMS Families,
Hello Cowboy Families,
We are actively in testing season for our students and we are excited to see the students' overall achievement in all subjects. Our progress monitoring data such as i-Ready Diagnostics, Standards Mastery, and Semester cumulative exams have shown that our students have made steady gains. As a matter of fact, SRMS came in second place for the Superintendents Festival Challenge for middle schools by showing growth from the iReady Diagnostics in Math and Reading from December to March.
Please take a look at summer opportunities such as the Drone Camp at SRHS and summer school opportunities for 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students that need to make up a middle school-required course in Science, Social Studies, Math, or Language Arts that they may have failed and need to pass before they can be promoted to high school.
As always, please continue to check your Focus account for announcements as well as monitor your child's attendance and grades.
Sincerely,
SRMS Administration

MIDDLE SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS
- Language Arts
- Math
- Social Studies/Civics
- Science
Any semesters in which students earn a grade of "F" will need to be repeated through course recovery before the student is able to move on to high school. Course recovery is offered during summer school, and may impact elective choices.
So, it is very important that students make every effort to pass each semester of these classes each year they are at SRMS. Please monitor your student's grades at Progress Reports, using the FOCUS parent portal, and encourage them to take advantage of our after school tutoring opportunities. Our teachers are here to help them be successful - but our students have to put forth the effort too.
