Social Studies

catherine.webber@asd20.org

We just finished a unit on Ancient China with a test on Thursday. We will spend the remainder of the school year looking into the achievements and contributions of Greece and Rome. Students can expect an exciting project to demonstrate their favorite civilization we have studied this year.

Science

We just concluded the human body by comparing our bodies to a frog's during our final dissection!! Starting May 6th, the Human Sexuality Unit starts. So, please refer to the classroom calendar on my website for topic discussions each day. Due to the sensitive nature of this topic, I will NOT be putting any of the worksheets given in class on the website. Students that are in the alternative program will have science during 1st period only in Rm 234!! Alternative science kiddos will re-join the class May 23rd.

It has been a pleasure having your child in my class this year!!! Have a great summer!!

Mathematics

Algebra 1A: Students are wrapping up the year with a strong focus on systems of linear equations which requires them to draw on the skills and concepts they have learned throughout the year. Having a strong understanding of linear equations is necessary for them to be successful next year in Algebra 1B. Students will have a chapter 6 test early in the month, around the 8th of May. We will then spend some time reviewing the year’s material in preparation for their common final assessment which all Algebra 1A students in the school take. The date of this final will be around May 17th.

Pre-Algebra 7: Students have finished their work in data and are now moving into algebraic patterns, tables, and graphs with an emphasis on linear equations. This will help prepare them for their 8th grade math class which focuses primarily on linear equations and algebraic thinking.
