A Message from Miss Buchko

Dear MacArthur Families,

As you know, our school kicked off our One Book One School reading program. For those who might not know, the book we chose this year is, The Dragon Thief. Every morning a trivia question is announced on the intercom and each class tries to be the first to respond with the correct answer. You would not believe how excited the students were during that announcement. As an educator and avid reader, I can't tell you how it warms my heart to see kids excited about reading. Thank you to all of our families who are reading the book as a family and helping foster a love of reading. I fondly remember my mom reading books to my brothers and I when we were younger.

Next week, we kick off Kindness Week and many activities have been planned for this. Today's LEAD Team was focused on kindness. As adults, it is our job to help model kindness for our children.

Have a great weekend,

Marian Buchko

Parents/Guardians,

Next week is Kindness Week! This is an entire week devoted to remembering that one kind deed can make such a huge impact! Your child should have come home with a purple “Kindness Week” flyer. I encourage everyone to try and participate and spread kindness throughout our whole school and community! We will be doing the “Great Kindness Challenge” which is a global initiative that encourages and promotes kindness. More than 36,000 school’s participated last year! Your child will receive a kindness checklist on Monday, and they are encouraged to complete as many kind deeds as they want/can. As a school, we have a goal of reaching 2,000 kind deeds throughout next week!

Have a great weekend,

Ms. Bellamy
