One Word for 2018

Often people make new year's resolutions at this time of the year. At Tamanend this week, our staff and students focused on selecting "one word" to help them focus and move closer to their ideal self. The one word movement has been embraced by students, educators and other professionals around the world to help them grow. Ask your student what one word they chose and why. We also encourage you to think about what one word you will focus on this year and share that with your student.

Students from Miss Roth's Advisory are ready for 2018!

Happy Snow Days!

With two snow days to end this first week back in the new year, we want to make sure everyone knows that we will return on Monday to an A day. Also, 9th graders interested in MBIT, please see below for information on the rescheduled date.

End of 2nd Marking Period

As of today, there are only fourteen more days left in the second marking period. In Mrs. Leatherbarrow's Monday morning address, she recommended taking a look at the portal and reflecting on where improvements can be made. Reflecting on progress and then planning action steps is an important part of student learning in the middle school years. Students should talk to their teachers about their plans and opportunities to continue learning and demonstrating what they have learned.

Bucks County Teen Peace and Social Justice Summit

The 5th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bucks County Teen Peace and Social Justice Summit will take place on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at William Tennent High School. All students in Grades 7-12 are welcomed to attend and participate in this event. Attendees will hear from various inspirational speakers and will have the opportunity to participate in round table discussions with their peers in facilitated sessions. Pizza will be provided at the conclusion of the event. Should you have questions regarding the event, please see or email Mrs. Leatherbarrow for further details. To register for this event, please complete the registration form.

Student Car Rider Drop Off/Pick Up Pattern

It is highly recommended that parents/guardians of students who walk or take the bus have their students walk or take the bus. On days, when students need extra help getting to school, please consider driving them to their assigned bus stop and wait together in the car until the bus arrives. A student will never be marked tardy if they arrive by bus.

If parents/guardians decide to drive students to school, please plan enough travel time to allow for safety and congestion on Stuckert Road and in our school parking lot. The speed limit in our lot is 15 mph.

The following is a mapping of how the student drop-off works in our parking lot. Drop off should happen along the sidewalk as soon as your car is safely stopped as indicated by paw prints on the map. Students should not wait in the car until the car is right outside the entrance door. Students are expected to get out of the car along the sidewalk and walk to the doors. For your safety and the safety of our students, please follow these directions and do not drop your student off on Stuckert Road, the Visitor's Parking area, or in the middle of the Main Parking Area.

Once students have exited their cars, parents can use any parking lot aisle to exit the parking lot.

Following these plans will help car rider traffic move quickly and prevent back up on Stuckert and Bristol Roads while keeping our students and all drivers safe. Thank you for your support and careful driving.
