District 11 FCCLA - Holiday Party/Meeting
November 28, Tuesday
Columbus Cleo Rogers Memorial Library, conference room
5:00 pm -6:30 pm
Snacks will be provided.
District officers will be elected for the remaining year.
Our community service will be to bring a can of soup that will go to a local food pantry.
THIS IS A FREE FCCLA DISTRICT MEETING!!!
After the meeting, we will walk 4 blocks to Zaharako's Soda Fountain and order from the menu for supper and/or a soda fountain treat. Zaharako's is restored soda fountain and restaurant that is lavishly decorated during the holiday season.If your chapter would like to help with refreshments or planning/ leading the meeting , please let me know. Additional info to come closer to the date. There is plenty of parking for short buses.
Your Mental Health Matters, High School Student Art Competition
About the Competition
High school student from all across the state are invited to continue the conversation about youth mental health and bullying by creating a piece of artwork that reflects the topic. Not only will the artwork continue the conversation but students have the chance to win a CASH prize of $1,000 and have their artwork displayed at the Indiana Statehouse.

The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship
This scholarship provides 200 high-achieving high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in education the opportunity to earn a renewable scholarship of up to $7,500 each year for four academic years. In exchange, students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school or repay the corresponding, prorated amount of the scholarship.

District 9 Info Continued...
The Fall meeting took place on October 17, 2017 at the Farmland Conservation building in Winchester, IN. Howard Hobson was elected as District 9 president. Howard is from the Hagerstown, FCCLA Chapter
At the meeting we went on a Scavenger Hunt to complete the Step One requirements. The Community Service we participated in at the meeting was making dog toys for sheltered dogs. Other activities included hearing a presentation about gun safety, making S'mores, and making Trail Mix. Members enjoyed a meal prepared by the Winchester FCCLA chapter.
Our chapter participated in a name tag contest at our Fall District meeting. We used recycled can to make our name tags. Delta Middle School won the name tag competition with there impressive mini dog toy tags and was awarded the traveling plaque.
