2nd grade Community service Project connects their annual Family Food Pantry Drive with a book drive for local families!
Betty Trummel came to speak to the 2nd grade about their community service project of collecting new and gently used books. The books will be given to local families during the annual holiday event at the Family Pantry of Cape Cod. We will be collecting books through December 13th. Any books that you'd like to donate - picture books, nonfic, fiction, chapter books - will be appreciated.
This event is being coordinated by A to Z Literacy Movement, a nonprofit with the goal of getting books into the hands of our most vulnerable readers.
There are drop off boxes in the front lobby. Thank you for your help.

Mrs. Oldach visited each fourth grade classroom to read "Tarra and Bella", a book donated by MRHS teacher Lisa Forte-Doyle to our school. This true story is about an unusual friendship between an elephant and a dog and their loyalty to each other. "Friendship" is the theme of the current Grade 4 pathway of study.
As winter approaches...please remember to dress in layers. New England is known for it's unpredictable weather, so please plan accordingly!
Morning Music Selection of the Week at HES!
After a busy and exciting break from school, it is time to get back into our school routine. The music this week is a Serenade by Dvorak. A serenade is a piece of music that is written for someone that a person likes.
1875 was a good year for Dvořák. He wrote his lote of music. These were happy times for him. For the first time in his life, he was being recognized as a composer and without being worried about being poor. He received a generous stipend from a commission in Vienna, which allowed him to write his Fifth Symphony and several other works as well as the Serenade.
Dvořák is said to have written the Serenade in just 12 days, from 3–14 May. The piece was first performed in Prague on 10 December 1876 by the combined orchestras of the Czech and German theaters.
