Smart Tag

Beginning Tuesday, March 7th, the Conroe High School Feeder schools will begin the use of the Smart Tags student ID system.

  • The student Smart Tags will be used only for the CISD transportation system at this time.
  • Students will scan their Smart Tag ID as they enter and exit the bus, each ride, morning and afternoon.
  • The purpose is to keep a log of students who boars the bus, and which stop student exits from the bus.
  • Parents will have the option to get an alert when the bus is approximately 15 minutes from their student's stop.
  • Students do NOT have to wear the IDs while at school, or even on the bus.
  • IDs will be attached to each child's backpack. Each child will scan their ID as they enter and exit the bus.
  • If a student does not have their ID, they may still ride the bus, however, they will need to enter either their name or student ID number into the system using the Smart Tag tablet mounted right inside the bus door.
  • If a student happens to lose their ID, all campuses have a Smart Tag ID printer to be able to issue a new one for the cost of $2.

The IDs are simple RFID cards and only carry a random 14-digit number. They do not keep any student information and the card is not trackable. The student cards are just like the ID's that CISD teachers and staff wear every day.

You may visit the CISD Smart Tag website at Smart Tag Information for additional information.
