Welcome Back!
August Newsletter 2022
From the Principals Desk
On behalf of the staff at Owyhee Elementary, we want to welcome you all back to a fun filled 2022-2023 school year! We are so excited to learn about all the summer adventures, projects and hobbies our students were involved in. I do hope those summer adventures also included some relaxation and time to be rejuvenated. As a wife, parent, and grandmother, I was able to fill my bucket by spending time with my family and friends and of course enjoying all the great outdoors Idaho has to offer.
As I mentioned we are looking forward to the new school year filled with some pre pandemic normalcy. As a district our focus is to continue to build a strong learner centered system where academic rigor is present, authentic engagement is taking place, and a responsive culture for learning is supported. We know all this work is not possible without the support of our amazing families and community members. So we are thrilled to continue our partnership with all of you to ensure the success of each of our learners. Please consider volunteering and/or substituting this year at our school, see below for more employment opportunities. We would love the extra help.
This year there have been some changes to our school meal plan. Our school meals will no longer be free for all students, as that Federal funding has gone away. However, families are encouraged to fill out the district's free and reduced meal application. The application can be found on our website at Food and Nutrition Services.
Finally, in light of recent school violence in our nation, I want to reassure you that providing a safe and secure school is a top priority at Owyhee as well within the Boise School District. We will continue to collaborate closely with our First Responders as well as keeping our security measures in place. We appreciate your support as you intrust us with your most precious treasures and look forward to the adventures ahead.
Cheers to a fabulous school year!
