Hello Bobcat Families!
The New Year is always a good time to re-set intentions, refresh our purpose, and perhaps set a new goal. These are great times to talk to children about how to be safe in their home and community, what your family rules are, and re-establish routines.
Last week's S'more featured several helpful tips on how to speak with children about violence and the events that transpired last week at our nation's capitol (an abbreviated version can be found below). The PTA meeting last week hosted New Lebanon School Psychologist, Kaitlin Cyr, who shared wonderful strategies around how to talk to children about safety and safe touch (a topic also thoroughly covered in our school-based curriculum). If you are interested in talking more about these topics, please feel free to reach out to us.
When unexpected events take place in our community, state, country, or world, our children hear and know what is going on - and the news continues. As much as we wish "the noise" would just go away, we see and hear information about these events for many months after they take place. It is important to keep a continuous open line of communication with our children. Below are a few more resources to utilize as the weeks pass, if you are interested...

In order to view the program, each viewer must log on with their first name and email address. If a student is watching from home, please make sure they have an email address to input. If they do not have an email address, they can easily create one using gmail or yahoo. If they are watching in a classroom environment, the teacher would have to log on with a name and email address
Tip: I have found you can also make up an email address on the spot and you will still be able to view the program. For example, if I sign in under the name “john” and input my email address as “john@gmail.com” I am still able to access the program.
