NSSD Parent/Community Update

A Message From Mr. Gardner

NSSD Parents and Community:

We are profoundly shocked and saddened by the wildfires' impact on our local communities. We want to recognize the incredible bravery and commitment of our local emergency responders, who are working tirelessly through the crisis. We also sincerely appreciate the citizens who helped others to evacuate and, in some cases, defend homes. Adversity reveals character, and the strength of the people living in the Santiam Canyon was in full evidence this week. At this time, however, our communities are disrupted and remain in some level of danger, which requires the District to adjust plans and delay school start.

The District had planned to start school on Monday, September 14th. Earlier this week, the District suspended all operations. We will be sending a survey out soon in hopes we can gain a better understanding of the situation our families are facing and how it impacts readiness to begin school.
