Semester Wrap-Up

A note from Principal, Mrs. Fox

First semester is in the books! We conducted a plethora of diagnostics in order to sequence and pace our instruction to our students' needs. We had many celebrations and activities around campus and in our educational learning environments. Check out our newsletter for wrap-ups and see what's on the horizon for the second semester!

Highlights at Franklin Academy Cooper City Campus

Newly elected Cooper City Commissioners visited our campus to learn about Franklin Academy, our mission and instructional goals. Their interviews with our Franklin Forum Newspaper Club will be featured in our next Franklin Forum edition.

Spirit Week Happenings

Inaugural Trunk or Treat Event

Our wonderful PTO organized a fun night out for all with a Trunk or Treat event followed by Movies Under the Stars where a viewing of 'Coco' and munchies were enjoyed. Here's a sample of some of the trunks, along with our Kindergarten Team and their theme of 'Wizard of Oz'.

Character Counts!

Franklin Academy truly has caring families! We collected an abundance of food donations for our Thanksgiving Food Drive for Big Mama, Team of Life. We also partnered with our lunch company, SLA, in this endeavor. Students received a free cookie at lunch for bringing in canned foods to support our community food banks. Thank you again for helping us teach this important character trait of caring!
Continuing with the CARING fever, our December Toy Drive for Joe DiMaggio's Children Hospital was just as successful. Mr. Williams and I delivered a huge collection of toys for the children that are in the hospital for the holiday season. It's a special moment when you watch children donate items to help others. Thank you for your partnership for this collection.

Yearbook Cover Contest

And the winners are...

A yearbook cover contest was announced to all K-8 students earlier in year. We have chosen an elementary student and an MYP student for the front and back covers; they will both receive a $25 Visa gift card! Help me in congratulating MYP cover winner Salome A. as well as our elementary cover winner Jacinda F. for entering such stellar artwork to represent our yearbook covers!

Speech & Debate Club

Congratulations to our Speech & Debate Club and Mrs. Cortes for bringing home many awards during our first competition in November. The club continued in their success with another strong performance in December! Looking forward to many more Speech & Debate competitions.

Community Outreach - Franklin Singers

Our Performing Arts teacher, Mrs. Nevitt and her group, The Franklin Singers, performed a melody of holiday songs for our neighbor, Schott Communities.

Schott Communities is a private, non-profit organization that supports the needs of persons who are deaf or who are physically or intellectually challenged in South Florida.

We look forward to a continued partnership with our neighbor!
