Glenholme School Newsletter

Term 1 - Week 2, 9th February 2023

Kia ora koutou,

Nau mai hoki mai ki te kura.

Welcome back to school for the 2023 school year. It was lovely on Tuesday to see all of our tamariki so eager to learn right from the start of the term. There were lots of smiles and tamariki who were very pleased to be back at school which was lovely.

Our kaiako spent the last week of the holidays taking part in three days of professional learning. On Wednesday and Thursday all of our kaiako and some of our kaiawhina completed the first Learning Days for Te Ahu o te Reo Māori. On Friday we had another Professional Development Day learning all about a programme which is from the Mental Health Foundation called ‘Pause, Prompt, Praise’. Over the coming weeks you will be able to talk to your tamariki about mindfulness and they will be able to show you what they have learnt in class.

We have an exciting term ahead. Our students in Whakapoungakau team along with one of the classes in Pukeroa Team are heading off to camp in Week 9. We need to acknowledge our Board who fully fund the cost of camp to ensure that everyone of our Year 5 and 6 tamariki has the opportunity to attend. This is a huge commitment and we thank them for this support.

Glenholme School has opted into the Government’s donation scheme. This means we will not ask parents for any donations. However, if your child plays a sport for the school there will be fees associated with the sport.

On Monday 27th February there is a paid Union Meeting for our teachers. Can you please collect your tamariki from school at 12.50pm to allow the teachers time to get to this meeting.

If your child needs to stay at school for the afternoon could you please notify the office.

Five Year Old New Entrant Pre–Enrolments

Glenholme School welcomes new arrivals to the school. Parents of students who live within the home zone and intend enrolling their child at any time during the year should notify the school to assist the school to plan appropriately for the next terms. We would like to encourage parents to contact Mrs Molly Norton (Deputy Principal) to confirm future student enrolments. To help determine future classroom placements, it is vital that the school has as much information as possible about future students. Enrolment forms are available at the school office or you can contact Mrs Norton Deputy Principal 348-1489 ext 203 or email Glenholme School.
