Virtual RPMS Back to School Night
Meet your child’s teachers at Rosa Parks Middle School for our first VIRTUAL Back-to-School-Night on Thursday, September 17, 2020. This year RPMS will have an opening meeting (webinar format) for each grade level followed by an opportunity to engage in asynchronous “Meet the RPMS Teachers” pre recorded videos and parent support webinars.
Each grade level meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Links to the meeting will be shared that morning via email and on the RPMS MyMCPS Classroom page. Families will be able to attend the opening meetings using their personal Zoom accounts.
I hope you will be able to join us Thursday evening. The agenda is as follows:
- 6:30-6:50 Attend a grade level meeting where you meet the team leaders, counselor(s), and administrations. Information about social emotional learning (SEL), attendance protocols, opportunities for student recognition, and MAP testing will be shared. There will be separate meetings for each grade: 6, 7, & 8.
- 6:50 Access the RPMS BTSN website. There is a link for each department that connects to teacher videos. Each teacher has prepared a short video that highlights information about the teacher, curriculum information, contact information, and how to support your child in the course. The link to the RPMS BTSN website will be shared after the grade level meetings at approximately 6:45 p.m. Links to the website will be emailed, as well as available on the RPMS website and RPMS MyMCPS Classroom page.
Also included on the RPMS BTSN website is:
- A link to the directory with staff members’ email addresses
- Parent Webinar Workshops
- Activating and Accessing ParentVUE
- Online Registration
- Tips to Support Your Child in Virtual Learning
- Link to the RPMS Parent Handbook
- Navigating MyMCPS Features (modules, teacher zoom links, etc.)
- Checking Grades in ParentVue
- Accessing Social Emotional Resources and RPMS Counseling Services
- How to Check Out an E-book
- Parent Feedback survey
While different than previous formats, we still believe that you will receive quality information to help support your Dolphin student.

Announcing the 2020-2021 Poetry Out Loud Competition
