From our Principal
Greetings and Happy New Year, CRE families,
This year's ISTEP+ assessment will look different than the tests given in the past. The new assessments are being called "College and Career Readiness Assessments." If you are interested in seeing what these assessments look like and how your child/ren are being tested, please join me for an informational meeting at either 10:00 AM or 7:00 PM in our Staff PD room on January 22, 2015.
I will be using the Department of Education website to show you both Language Arts and Math assessment information. There will also be time for questions and follow-up.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me via email or phone. If you need an interpreter, please let me know by Jan. 16.
Thank you so much.
Warm regards,
Lisa Lederach

New Phone System
Parents – Cumberland Road Elementary School has switched to a new phone system. This affects only internal extensions and does not impact the main number – 317-594-4170.
However, we ask your patience as we learn the new system. We apologize, in advance, for any inconveniences as we get up to speed on this new technology.
Lost and Found
Grandfathering Form attached to this email (CRES students are not being redistricted)
Dear HSE Parents,
On behalf of the Hamilton Southeastern School Corporation, we hope your holiday season was a bright and peaceful one. HSE is now in the process of planning for the 2015-2016 school year.
As promised, we want to share an important message regarding the “Grandfathering” provision the Board of School Trustees approved as part of the redistricting plan. “Grandfathering” allows a student in grades 3, 5, and 7 to remain at his or her current school for the 2015-16 school year. Parents must provide transportation.
If you would like to take advantage of this provision, please complete the attached “2015-16 Grandfathering Form” and return it to your student’s school or the HSE Administration Office by February 6, 2015.
Again, we hope you had a wonderful winter break and look forward to an outstanding semester two!

Follow CRES Music
It’s dinner time. Everyone has just started eating the delicious dinner you’ve made. You ask your child “How was school today?” He replies excitedly that he had music today and did… Well he’s not quite sure. He tries to explain the dance, he sings a song, but mentions there was another part to it. What’s a parent to do?!
Like the CRES music Facebook Page and follow us on Twitter at @MusicAtCres! Most importantly subscribe to us on YouTube at CRES music.
Don’t have a Facebook account you say? You’ve never been on Twitter? You don’t have to be tech savvy or make ANY tweets or posts of your own. Making a Facebook and twitter account takes about five minutes and allows you to stay up to date on ALL the goings on of the CRES music department. Facebook is a great place to see the storehouse of videos we have of our classwork. Twitter will inform you of new happenings, and connect you to your child’s school with updates of the latest performances and projects he’s working on.
Don’t wait. Go right now to YouTube, Facebook and Twitter and like and follow us at CRES Music on Facebook and YouTube and @MusicAtCres on Twitter!

Spend a Night Getting Crafty with Fishers Parks & Recreation
Celebrate National Hobby Month and spend some time creating a unique Pinterest craft!
Pinterest offers so many awesome craft ideas, but there never seems to be enough time to actually start crafting some of their do-it-yourself projects. Instead of continuing to pin things that go unnoticed for months, make plans to hang out at Roy G. Holland Memorial Park to start and finish your very own string heart. On Friday, Jan. 23 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m., participants ages 10 and up will weave together a piece of art using string and nails. Don’t believe it’s possible? Register now and see how this piece of art is brought to life! Participants will be able to create a heart, the outline of our state and much more. All supplies will be provided during the event which costs $15 for residents and $23 for nonresidents. If participants are uncomfortable using a hammer and nails, parents are encouraged to attend to help.
January is National Hobby Month and the perfect time to try something new! Check out the Fishers Parks & Recreation Fun Guide to keep any eye out for similar programs that everyone in the family will enjoy. Pinterest Craft Night is a brand new program that offers the perfect opportunity to get out of the house with a few friends and create a beautiful piece of art!
