Thank You!
Dear Parents,
Since this is the last newsletter for the school year, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank you for making it one of the best school years ever. It is always hard to believe that another year has come and gone so quickly. And, as always, the end of the year leaves me with mixed emotions. It is exciting to see much these children have grown intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically over the past 10 months. I am proud that they have accomplished so much in just a little time and that I was a small part of those accomplishments. On the other hand, after spending all this time with them, it is hard to watch them leave on the last day knowing they'll be at another building.
I hope that you've found this year to be an enjoyable one as well. Again, thank you for your time, support, encouragement and prayers throughout the year. But most of all thank you for entrusting these very special lives to me each and every day.
Best wishes for a relaxing and safe summer,
Stacie Hensley
Homework Help!
- Read- everyday- for 20 minutes
- Ask your child questions about what they've read or to tell you a summary of their book
- Do the summer packet - a page a day takes 5-10 minutes- return the finished packet to me in August (drop it off at our office) and I'll send your child a prize
- Put away the electronics and PLAY- studies show that moving your body increases brain power
- Think creatively- build, do art projects, sidewalk chalk, sew, cook
- Be responsible- your child that is ! Give them jobs- they'll stay out of trouble and you'll have less to do! No reward is necessary for completing the job- we all have do do things just because we have to and its never to early to learn that lesson!
- Do math in everyday activities- measure, tell time (on an analog clock (with hands)- not digital), estimate, add/ subtract at the store mentally to find the total of items, count change, help with a garage sale
- Learn a new skill- how to make a dish, how to air up bike tires, whatever that your child might find interesting!
- Have fun -- summer is short!
