Troy 30-C Monthly Happenings
Summer 2023

Superintendent's Corner
It always amazes me just how fast August gets here each year! Summertime goes by quickly and brings with it the anticipation of beginning another school year. As we get ready to have students and staff return, I want to take this opportunity to thank our Facilities and Operations Departments for all of the hard work cleaning the schools and getting them ready for our students and staff to return for the 2023-2024 school year. I also want to thank our teachers and administrators for all of their professional development planning they have completed this summer. Additionally, I would also like to thank our District Office Staff and Technology Department for all of their hard work this summer getting everything ready for the start of school, our Building Administrative Assistants who have been working on scheduling and helping families with questions, and our Transportation Department who has been working hard on scheduling bus routes. We are lucky to have such dedicated staff who work so hard to ensure a smooth start to the 2023-2024 school year.
As we embark on the start of the next school year I can't help but think of all of the great things our students and staff did last year during the 2022-2023 school year. This year we are looking forward to even more exciting things! Tomorrow, Friday, August 4 is our Back to School Resource Fair at WBO and TMS. I hope to see lots of Troy 30-C families at this great event.
I look forward to welcoming students into our buildings on Wednesday, August 16 for our first day of school! I hope you are all enjoying the summer and taking time to relax and spend time with your friends and family.

Showing Up Together, Attendance Matters!
We, at Troy 30-C, hold our students to high standards and expectations which begins with on time, regular, and consistent school attendance for all students. Research shows there is a direct relationship between regular attendance, punctuality, and school success (academic/social/emotional). When students are absent from school, authentic opportunities for growth in these areas are missed and can be difficult to make up. There is no substitute for actual, face to face classroom instruction.
School laws are very specific as to the parent's responsibility to ensure regular school attendance. This school year, as a District and at each building, we will be dedicated to improving our attendance for our Troy 30-C students. A formal attendance plan with action steps will be shared out via ParentSquare on August 10th.
As part of the communication plan within the attendance plan, an attendance video will be created and shared out across the district.
At Troy 30-C, we are “Showing Up Together” as we build relationships all year! It is a partnership between the elementary/campus, the student, and the home.
“Showing Up Together” slogan is used by Attendance Works, the nation’s leading action research project impacting change in attendance policies.
We are excited to announce a video contest for our Troy 30-C students. Students are asked to submit videos, meeting the criteria below. These videos will be shared on August 10th as part of our District kick-off of our "Showing Up Together" Attendance initiative. This exciting year-long focus with emphasize the importance of school attendance.
Criteria for videos: be creative, incorporate the slogan “Showing Up Together,” and encourage regular, consistent school attendance and being on time.
Send videos to jpeterson@troy30c.org. Include student’s name, grade level, and school.
The top 2 student videos will win a prize. A raffle will be held for the other submissions.
