CHRIST-KING CATHOLIC SCHOOL
October 2022
Faith Moment
We are also completing a couple Acts of Service throughout the month including a Food Drive Blitz until October 6th. Students are invited to bring in non-perishable food items before Thanksgiving. The class with the most items will win a Pizza Party for their class with Mrs. Bohn.
We are also partnering with Sneakers Plus and running a Shoe Drive until October 31st. Students are invited to bring in new or gently used shoes to donate to those in need!
Sacramental Preparation
Christ-King Catholic Church has opened registration for their Sacramental Preparation classes for the First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Any families wishing for their child to participate (typically Grade 2 & 3 age group), please contact the Church (403-742-2047) or the school (403-742-0280) for registration forms!

CKCS Code
Our CKCS Code Cred winners for the month of September were: Lucas, Aidan & Andrea. They each won a pizza party for their class!
October Code Cred Prize - Lunch of Choice with Mrs. McMillan!
At CKCS, we follow the CKCS Code which is made up of 5 important truths:
- I am a valuable member of the CKCS family.
- I am responsible for my words and actions.
- I treat others the way they would like to be treated.
- I work hard on all tasks.
- I respect all property.
This Code was developed out of the "Fruits of the Spirit" from the Bible. Students learn about the Code in the month of September and are encouraged to demonstrate it in all aspects of their day. When students are exemplifying the Code, they may earn a "CKCS Code Cred". This is a ballot that they can add to a monthly draw. Prizes change each month - sometimes they are individual prizes or prizes a student can win for their class.
Junior High Leadership Camp
Our Junior High students attending their annual 3-day Leadership Camp in September. Their days were filled with camp-wide games, leadership building activities, yummy food, campfires and so much fun! They are so excited to begin all the leadership opportunities of the 2022/2023 school year!
Terry Fox Run
On Friday, September 23rd, CKCS participated in our annual Terry Fox Run. Students did many, many laps in support of cancer research.
CKCS is proud to announce that altogether, students raised $2,674.00!
CKCS Bookworms
Students worked hard on their September Reading Bingo sheets for the CKCS Bookworms. Altogether they were able to earn 586 points out of 25,000 points.
What are they earning points towards?
Every year, Mrs. McMillan challenges the CKCS Bookworms (the CKCS student body) to read at home. If they are able to complete her challenge by the end of the year, she will follow through with something ridiculous! In past years, she has had to dye her hair rainbow colours and has slept on the school roof for 24 hours.
This year, if the CKCS Bookworms can reach 25,000 reading points (each bingo card is worth 20 pts), then Mrs. McMillan will provide ice cream sundaes for the entire school. In addition, students will be give the chance to turn Mrs. McMillan herself, into an ice cream sundae - complete with ice cream, sauces, sprinkles and cherries.
National Truth & Reconciliation Day
On September 29th, CKCS honoured National Truth and Reconciliation Day by learning more about Indigenous cultures and Residential Schools.
Our day not only included orange shirts but also involved students participating in Indigenous art, games, stories and our annual Healing Circle at the end of the day.
CKCS Welcomes Miss Copan
Please help us welcome Miss Copan who is joining our team as an elementary EA!
Spirit Days
At CKCS, we have a Spirit Day every other Friday. A theme is set and students are invited to dress up to show their school spirit. It is completely optional and not mandatory! Often we add to the fun by changing up our school bells etc. to match the theme!

School Council plays a very vital role at Christ-King. They fundraise to provide events for our students, they organize hot lunches, staff appreciation and so many other activities. Since they do so many things for our school, it does take volunteer power. Please consider coming! We know life gets busy so you do not need to attend every meeting, nor are you expected to volunteer for every event in the year. Please just help out as you can!
Reminder: Chocolate fundraisers are due back on October 13th!
