North Glendale Family Update
November 14, 2021
Good morning!
This week we kick off two ways that the NG community can make a difference!
NG vs Bristol Elementary Food Drive November 15-19: We are once again collecting non-perishable food items for Kirkcare, our own local food pantry. We traditionally pull in A LOT of food for this event to support our neighbors ~ and a little friendly competition with Webster is an added bonus!
One of my favorite books to read with kids on the topic of food insecurity is Maddi's Fridge. If yo are not sure how to answer kids questions about why we are collecting food for others, just listening to this book together will open the conversation!
NG Changemaker Club PENNY WAR: November 15-19: I love change that comes from kids! The NG Changemaker Club wants to make a difference for animals, so all funds raised during the Penny War will go to the Humane Society. What the heck is a Penny War? Check out this video intro for the club!
We all appreciate your support of these two efforts to shed some positivity all around!
Have a great week and please call or email if I can be of service!

Submitting pictures to be considered for the yearbook: If you have great candid photos of NG kids, you can share them on facebook using #northglendaleyearbook or email them to northglendaleyearbook@gmail.com. If emailing, please include teachers name and grade of children in the photos.

November is Native American Heritage Month
DID YOU KNOW?
The first American Indian Day was celebrated in May 1916 in New York. President George H.W. Bush signed a joint congressional resolution designating the month of November “National American Indian Heritage Month” in 1990.
Thanksgiving Day is also National Day of Mourning. Participants gather to “mourn our ancestors and the genocide of our peoples and the theft of our lands.”
The day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday but also Native American Heritage Day.
Native American men and women serve in the U.S. military more than any other minority on a per capita basis.
