Twin Peaks Middle School
Weekly RAM Newsletter
A Brief Note from Dr. Burke
Dear Ram families,
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! I hope you have enjoyed your summer and are looking forward to starting school once again.
For those of you who are new to Twin Peaks, you can expect to receive this communication from me every Sunday night at 6:30pm. This is our primary means of keeping you informed of what is going on around campus as well as any upcoming events and activities. In the event of an emergency, I will reach out to you via our automated dial system as well as by text.
Students are encouraged to check Synergy tonight for their current schedule in the event any changes have occurred over the last couple of days as we work to balance enrollment and class size. Incoming 6th graders who attended Poway Unified for elementary school can also access their schedules online. Those who are new to PUSD are encouraged to attend School Year's Eve tonight at 5 pm. We will have hard copies of their schedules printed out for them. Students who are unable to print their schedules from home or who misplace them prior to the start of school, should report to the office beginning at 8:00am and we will print a copy for them.
Campus opens at 8:00am and school begins promptly at 8:27am. We are on a 1-6 schedule tomorrow, so students will meet all of their teachers. Our ASB and WEB student leaders will be on campus in Black and Blue t-shirts and will assist students in finding their way to class. We will start our day in 1st period, take attendance, listen to the morning announcements and then head to the quad for our all-school welcome back assembly. We dismiss at 3:10pm. Traffic will be congested for the first 2-3 weeks as routines develop. You may want to consider arriving a little later (3:30pm) or picking up your student at the St. Gabriel's lot or on the other side of Tierra Bonita Rd., near the equestrian center.
Thursday is our late start day. Campus will open at 8:45am and class will begin at 9:15 am. Thursday will be a 1/3/5 day. Friday will be a 2/4/6 day and our first full week of classes will begin on Monday with a 3/5/1 schedule.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Dr. Burke

The School Site Council consists of elected members representing parents, teachers, students, the school principal, and other school employees, each of whom serve a 2 year term. The council will meet approximately 3-4 times during the school year to review school-wide goals, discuss site monetary funds, and approve a yearly plan for student achievement.
