A note from Dr. Miles
Good morning Parents and Guardians!
This week, so many of us have an opportunity to gather together with family and share how THANKFUL we are and for what we are THANKFUL. With the many areas of misery and gloom in the world, this Thanksgiving holiday, let us be sure to embrace our loved ones and tell them how thankful we are to have them in our lives. Some of our families may not have the opportunity to gather around the table and enjoy a homemade meal full of love. Take a moment to reflect on the bountiful blessings this holiday gives and show THANKS in some way.
For me, each year, this time magnifies the memories of Thanksgivings past and how things are just different. Whether it is an open space at the table, the missing helping hands in the kitchen, or the absence of a familiar voice, I am reminded of the reason we must all give thanks. As we prepare for travel or welcoming others to our home, I want to take a moment to express my sincere thanks:
As I reflect on my blessings here at King's Highway,
I'm thankful for the ability to lead you all each day.
I surely don't take credit for doing it alone,
Cause we are a strong team, that's what I own.
I stand tall as the principal and I do it with P.R.I.D.E.,
With a heart brimming with thanks, this truth I don't hide.
Grateful am I, for your dedication and skill,
Together, a vision, we continue to fulfill.
To the parents, the pillars of our vibrant school,
Your trust and support are precious, a priceless jewel.
In your children's bright eyes, I see hope's glow,
Guiding them forward and watching them grow.
Teachers, our guardians of wisdom and light,
With you, our future's incredibly bright.
Your passion and wisdom, in each lesson you weave,
In your commitment to teach, I deeply believe.
In the heart of King's Highway, where learning sings,
I find my purpose, and the joy it brings.
For the chance to lead, to guide, and inspire,
Fills my soul with gratitude, an undying fire.
So here's to our journey, in this noble quest,
In our school, we're family, truly blessed.
In each challenge we face, in triumphs we share,
I'm thankful for you all, beyond compare.
In this season of giving, of warm gratitude,
I reflect on our school's heartfelt magnitude.
Thanks to each one of you, for all that you do,
Happy Thanksgiving to our King's Highway crew! ❤️
Thank you for all your continued support!
Kind regards,
Dr. Miles
Churning Butter in Kindergarten
Every year, Mrs. Pandosh's kindergarten class makes butter to end our unit in November. This has grown into an all KHS kindergarten event. In the past, about 50% of the students like the Homemade butter and 50% do not. This year, almost all of the students asked for a seconds. Students learn a poem and chant along as they each take turns shaking the jar of heavy cream until that magic moment it turns to butter.
Students enjoyed the great taste of their very own butter.
Mrs. Pandosh and Mrs. Ollis bring the old into the new.
The excitement of shaking the heavy cream is obvious.
PICTURE RETAKE DAY
On November 29th, we will have picture retake day. This will be for any new students that have joined our school, students who were out sick on picture day, or if you would like your students to have their pictures retaken. Thank you and hope you have a great day!!

Volunteers Needed!
There are many opportunities for volunteering at our school. Please complete the form below if you are interested in volunteering at King's Highway Elementary School. Here are some of the ways you can help:
Recess: Recess volunteers assist students during recess.
Cafeteria: Cafeteria volunteers assist students with getting their lunches, opening containers, dispensing utensils and napkins, etc.
Reading: Some students, especially in K-2, may need extra literacy reinforcement. As a volunteer you may be able to assist students in letter/sound naming, decoding, etc. This may be more intensive.
All volunteers must have the proper clearances on file in the main office. You can email your clearances to milesb@casdschools.org or send the forms to school with your student. See the pdf below for information regarding clearances.
Thank you for supporting King's Highway Elementary School!
