Dear Tyson Families,
This is a very complicated time for all of us and I hope no one feels they are struggling alone. Creating and adjusting our schedules, working with new programs, and trying to stay healthy all at the same time is not easy. When it comes to COVID-19 information, there is a lot out there. Please be sure you are referencing reliable sources. The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, the CDC, and the ASD websites all have helpful information as well as links to more that can help to give you clarification and maybe, some peace of mind.
Despite all the frequent changes and influx of information, immunization records and religious exemption forms are still needed for your child's school record. Please send these to school as soon as you are able if it’s still needed according to your enrollment. If you have questions, feel free to contact me. I am available by email, and phone.

Kids can participate in Healthy Futures Activities from home!
Tyson Ravens who are active for at least 60 minutes a day, 15 days a month, and record their activity on a Healthy Futures Activity Log will earn monthly prizes and incentives. Also, students will be entered into a grand prize drawing each time they submit a completed activity log. The more monthly logs they complete, the better chance they have to win. The end of year grand prize will be a choice of a disc golf set, spikeball set, ladder ball set, or a Healthy Futures hoodie.
We will also highlight one student each month on the Tyson PE website who has completed their activity log. This "Active Raven" will have the opportunity to share with the Tyson community tips and ideas on how to keep active and healthy.
Below is a Healthy Futures Activity Log that students can digitally fill out and submit when completed at the end of each month. Completed logs can either be sent to their teachers and then forwarded to our PE teachers or can be directly emailed to our PE teachers (sandhoefner_richard@asdk12.org). September logs will be due October 2nd. More information can be found on the Tyson PE website at https://sites.google.com/asdk12.net/tyson-pe-home/home

From Our Tyson 21st Century Program...
Hello,
My name is Kit Greene, and I run the 21st Century Afterschool Program at Tyson. We are giving virtual after school a try this year.
The Afterschool Program will be virtual, at least while we’re distance learning, and will run Monday - Thursday, 3:30-5:30, September 14, 2020 - April 29, 2021 (with certain weeks/days off). Your child will have opportunities to further develop math skills (some homework help), do some physical activities (PE), learn how to use and take care of an Ozobot, and more. They will visit with and do activities with our grant partners, Campbell Creek Science Center and the Alaska Botanical Gardens, and other academic supports and enrichment.
Enrolling virtually will ensure that your child will have a space in the program if/when we return to face to face instruction. At the same time, it will help to keep you child connected with their classmates.
To review the virtual agreement, please click on the link below.
Thanks for your time. Let me know if you have any questions,
Cordially,
Kit Greene, Coordinator
