Hi everyone, and welcome to the CDO Private Sector Team’s Blog! Our blog is geared towards all things private sector-ranging from fall recruiting to networking to Pledge to interviewing skills. Our goal to provide advice and insight on navigating the private sector legal market, to highlight employment opportunities in this sector, and to engage with YOU! How can you engage with us? Felicia Ho and Colleen Scarola
Meet the CDO Private Sector Team!
Felicia Ho received her B.A. in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from the University of California, Berkeley and her J.D. from Tulane University. While in law school, Felicia clerked at the California Public Utilities Commission in San Francisco and the Asian Law Alliance in California’s Silicon Valley. She served as managing editor of the Tulane Law Maritime Journal and was an officer of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. Following law school, Felicia was a criminal defense and employment discrimination attorney at small firms in downtown Denver, Colorado. Prior to joining the Office of Career Development & Opportunities, she was the program coordinator for the University of Denver Sturm College of Law’s Office of Alumni Relations as well as the Professional Mentoring Program.
Outside of work, Felicia sits on the boards of the Denver Public Schools Asian Education Advisory Council and the McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation where she helps to improve educational opportunities and programming for primary and secondary school students in the Denver Public School District. She likes to ski, is a member of the Colorado Ballet Auxiliary, and enjoys spending time with her husband Mike and their three children.
Colleen Scarola received her B.A. with Honors in English and Politics and Government from Illinois State University and her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School.
While in law school, Colleen worked as a law clerk at Shefsky & Froelich and externed for the Honorable Wayne R. Andersen (Ret.) of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago.
After graduating law school, Colleen worked at the Chicago law firm Cremer Spina, where she worked on insurance coverage litigation matters. Prior to joining the Office of Career Development & Opportunities, she was an associate at the Chicago law firm McVey & Parsky, LLC where she represented Fortune 100 companies and self-insured businesses throughout the United States in insurance defense, insurance coverage, premises liability, and products liability matters. In recognition of her professional achievements, Colleen was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2011, 2013, and 2014-a designation given to only 2.5% of attorneys in Illinois each year. She was also actively involved in The John Marshall Law School Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program and Alumni Job Advisory Board. Colleen may be reached at 303.871.6586.
