Governor issues new executive order
Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued Executive Order GA-32 on Oct. 7 that will take effect on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
In summary, this Order 1.) opens bars at 50% capacity in certain state trauma regions, if the County Judge submits an approval form to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), 2.) increases maximum occupancy for most businesses to 75%, and 3.) continues to limit outdoor gatherings in a city to 10 persons, unless authorized by the Mayor.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins addressed the opening of bars on Twitter on Oct. 7, and said "[he] will not file [the approval form with TABC] to open [bars] at this time."

Early voting locations
The Dallas County Elections Department is offering 37 full-time early voting locations throughout the county. Dallas County registered voters may vote at any of the locations. Click here for a list of early voting locations. (Please note that Sunnyvale is NOT an early voting location. The closest site is: 101 Holley Park Dr., Mesquite, TX 75149). However, you will be able to vote on election day at Sunnyvale Town Hall.
Early voting dates and times:
- Oct. 13 - 16; 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Oct. 17; 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Oct. 18; 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
- Oct. 19 - 23; 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Oct. 24; 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Oct. 25; 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
- Oct. 26 - 30; 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Acceptable forms of Voter ID:
- Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS),
- Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS,
- Texas personal identification card issued by DPS,
- Texas handgun license issued by DPS,
- United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph,
- United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph, OR
- Passport.

Hand delivering a ballot by mail
Under the Governor's emergency proclamation, voters who are eligible for a mail-in ballot may hand deliver their marked ballot to the Dallas County Elections Department at 1520 Round Table Dr. Dallas, TX 75247. Ballots may be hand delivered during the Election Department's hours of operation now through Nov. 3 - Election Day. See the extended hours schedule below.
When delivering a ballot in person, the voter must provide an acceptable form of ID upon delivery. Acceptable forms of ID are listed in the article above.
