IAR Coming Soon!
Illinois Assessment for Readiness
As you may know, each spring all 3rd through 5th-grade students take the IAR (Illinois Assessment for Readiness). Please read the letter linked below from the D303 Assessment Office.
We are proud of our growth each year and can't wait to see our student's learning to be reflected as they take the IAR. As teachers, we are very intentional as we help students build a healthy perspective about these assessments. We have been helping students build a positive growth mindset about taking the IAR. They have been practicing, encouraging each other, and guided to simply do their very best. We also make it fun by facilitating a basketball-themed "March Madness" competition between classes to see who can accomplish more of the positive preparation tasks. (Ex: write a note to another class encouraging them to do their best, or make some affirming posters to hang in the school hallway).
Students will only take one test a day and each teacher makes sure they have lots of movement breaks and fun learning activities for the rest of the day. The IAR testing days at Anderson are listed below.
- Tue: 4/7
- Wed: 4/8
- Mon: 4/13
- Tue: 4/14
- Wed: 4/15
- Thu: 4/16
Please make sure your child is getting plenty of sleep, eating healthy, and drinking water to keep their brains fully hydrated. (As a parent of 4 boys, this is good advice for me any day :))
Hopefully, you can tell that we work to have a positive, focused, and very relaxed testing environment for our students.
Thanks for helping our students reach their fullest potential! The Sky's the Limit!
Sincerely,
Mr. Jarot
