Wolf Lake Elementary
Family Newsletter
Welcome:
I can't believe that Christmas Break is almost upon us! The first semester of the school year has flown by! Many changes have happened at Wolf Lake and many more are to come. Probably the most exciting change is our transition to 1:1 technology. Students will be getting internet/technology safety lessons in class before iPad mini's are sent home. There will also be information sent home about parent informational meetings on insurance for the devices, as well as helpful seminars on how to assist your child with their iPad mini. Stay tuned for more information.
Christmas Vacation
If your family is leaving early from school for Christmas vacation, please let your child's teacher and the office know as soon as possible. We do have forms that need to be filled out to abide by state attendance policies. Your help with this is greatly appreciated!
New Security Measures
In an effort to make sure Wolf Lake, along with all other Central Noble schools, are as secure as we can make them, there will be changes made to how parents can enter the building. After Christmas break we will have ID scanners that will scan state issued ID's. You will have to scan your ID and then you will be printed a visitor badge that you can pick up and put on in the office, once the security system clears you. If you have any questions about how this system works please contact myself or Officer Worman and we would be glad to explain it to you. I know this may seem like an inconvenience, but it is 100% worth it for the safety of our students. More detailed information will be available once the system is ready to be put into service.
Pillar Of Character Award Winners
A new tradition has been started at Wolf Lake. Each month we recognize a new Pillar Of Character. Last month our pillar was trustworthiness. Each teacher in grade K-5 and our ED room choose one student who exemplifies this character in their classroom. These students receive a t-shirt, and gift certificates from numerous restraunts from the area. Parents of award winners are notified before our convocation and are invited to come celebrate with your child. Remember this is a total secret and we would like it to remain that way until the day of the convocation.
The New Pillar Is RESPECT
We were treated to a great talk on RESPECT by Mr. Amos Gross. His message about respecting everyone no matter their differences was powerful.
Giving To A Cause
Our student council was able to help a St. Joseph High School Junior in his quest to collect 1,000,000 pop tabs. Over a period of about 3 years Wolf Lake students collected around 250,000 pop tabs. Trey Miller will donate the money generated from recycling the pop tabs to The Ronald McDonald House. I'm very proud of our students and their generosity!
Quick Reminders
We are always willing to have parent volunteers. You will have to have a background check done before you can volunteer or go on field trips. Please stop in the main office and ask Mrs. Gallmeyer or Mrs. Geiger for a form and they will be happy to get one for you.
Like it or not cold weather is here. Please, send your child in appropriate clothing to be outdoors for at least 30 minutes during recess. We will go outside as much as possible so they will need to dress for the weather.
Christmas break is from December 22nd through January 3rd.
