Soul Café Helpful Hints
It is up to each individual if you want to set up/make coffee before service or during service (I personally feel better if I prep before service)!
**YOU HAVE TO RUN A "TEST POT" OF JUST WATER BEFORE MAKING COFFEE!!!**
Coffee (see instruction sheet in drawer under the coffee maker) typically 2 pots regular and 1 decaf.
If service looks like a “larger” crowd you can make 1 regular pot during soul café.
Treats- usually can be found on top of the soul café cart or on kitchen counter.
At times they may be located in the fridge or freezer,
but we try to let you know if that is the case.
Juice, Milk, & Coffee can be brought to the gathering area on a cart from the kitchen.
You can serve coffee from carafes located underneath island in the kitchen.
Napkins, stirrers, cups, etc should be in the soul café cart. Please make sure the sugar, sweet n low, stirrers, powdered creamer, and napkins are on top of soul café cart to be easily accessible. If something is low you can look in the back kitchen pantry. If you notice something is empty or running low please let Mary or Camilla know.

Hanging of the Greens
Chaddock Children’s Adoption: This Sunday!
Our annual Christmas Adoption will kick off on Sunday, November 17th! Lists will be handed out after 8:45 worship. Please return the unwrapped gifts to PUMC no later than Sunday, December 1st. You can also drop your items off early during week day office hours in the outer office CLEARLY marked. Like last year, from the suggestion of Chaddock personnel, it is being requested that the unwrapped gifts be put into a duffle bag if possible. This provides the resident with a “suitcase” for his or her belongings when leaving Chaddock.
Poinsettias: Now- December 1st
Purchase your poinsettias to help decorate the church sanctuary during the Christmas season! Poinsettias are $10/plant. Sign-up sheet is available in the gathering area.
2020 Stewardship Campaign
If it has not yet reached you, a Stewardship notebook will be coming your way for your review shortly. In it, you will find our proposed budget for next year, information about our committees, a little church history, and a stewardship response card to complete. Please review the notebook, fill out your response card, seal the card in the envelope provided, and then pass the book along to the next person on your route. Thanks in advance for your donations of time, talent and treasure.
Celebration of Life Service for Linda Strasma
The Visitation with Linda's family will occur after the service in our sanctuary.
We will not have a 525 Worship (10:45) service on Sunday as the Strasma family prepares for this difficult day.
Please continue to pray for the Strasmas, and all of their extended family members and friends, to experience God's CALM in the midst of their storm.
* Graveside services for Linda will be held at a later date.
Mary Martha bake sale: Sunday, November 24th
Come get your goodies at the annual Mary Martha Bake Sale on November 24th before and after services! This is one of our big fundraisers for the year with all proceeds going towards missions. If you would like to prepare something for our bake sale we will take any baked good: cookies or bars, pies, rolls, breads, pastries, cakes (anything that could be served over Thanksgiving). Bake Sale prep is set for 2:00pm on Nov. 23. See you at the sale!
Hanging of the Greens: Sunday, November 24th
Hanging of the Greens is set for Sunday, November 24th following our JOINT worship service at 9:45 AM.
The United Methodist Men will be serving a light lunch around 11:30 AM. We will plan to decorate after worship and finish up following lunch. The Hanging of the Greens is a great family event and is a wonderful opportunity to fine tune our focus on the Advent season!
Celebrating 50 years on Ash Street
In 1963, the church of Prospect Methodist Church was formed on Sunday May 22 as the congregations of Dunlap Methodist Church and Prospect Presbyterian Church voted and then met on 3rd Street between the two churches to join as one congregation. As the congregation grew and merged further with the Evangelical United Methodist Church to form Prospect United Methodist Church, the congregation realized they needed a larger church home.
Ground breaking for the new church was held in April 1968 and the first church service on Ash Street was held on December 7th 1969. On December 8th of this year it will be 50 years that we have been in our church home on Ash Street. In honor of the 50 years, a celebration is being planned that will combine the services with a brunch to follow.
Our Goal: Honor the past by focusing on the future (Deep and Wide)
Please join us on December 8th at 8:45 am as we honor the past by focusing on our future!
