Saturday Detention at Robinson

Saturday's, 8:00am-11:00am

To update the community on our new Saturday detention policy

September 7, 2022

During the 2022-2023 school year, the Robinson Middle School will be implementing Saturday Detention as an alternative to Out-of-School Suspension for a variety of disciplinary infractions. Although parents understand that their child must be held accountable for failure to follow school rules, many have expressed concern about missed instructional time due to Out-of-School Suspension. As a result we have developed an option that would not require students to miss classroom instruction.

Saturday Detention will be held at the Robinson Middle School and will run in two sessions, a one and a half hour detention from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., or a three hour detention from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. This disciplinary action will be enforced for many, but not all, disciplinary offenses that are disruptive to the learning environment.

Disciplinary offenses that are disruptive to the learning environment may include, but are not limited to:

  • General disruptive behavior (classroom or other)

  • Causing a disturbance

  • Harassing/bullying a student

  • Insubordination

  • Truancy

  • Fighting

  • Use of inappropriate language

  • Tardiness (5+ during a quarter/semester)

  • Out of bounds/leaving school without permission

Students will NOT be allowed to use ANY electronics (including cell phones) during Saturday detention. The Robinson Middle School will not provide transportation.

If your child faces a potential Saturday detention, you will be notified to attend a disciplinary hearing with an administrator from the Robinson Middle School.

Corresponding Saturday’s will be scheduled as needed, and will not be scheduled prior to or after a vacation/holiday.
