Slow Down
The Passover Lamb
This Sunday night we will be continuing our study through the book of Exodus as we read about the passover lamb. The main takeaway is that the Passover story gives us a beautiful picture of God's judgement as well as God's salvation. We see the severity of God's judgement as He warns and then unleashes His wrath upon the Egyptians. But we also see the beauty of God's grace as He provides a substitute in order to protect His people from His wrath and free them to worship Him with full and grateful hearts. As God's "passed-over" people, we now celebrate His salvation with joy. For those who would like to read ahead, our passages will be Exodus 11:4-8; 12:1-13. 29-32.
Understanding the Value of Your Voice
I read an article this week dealing with singing in the church. The author, Keith Getty, makes a valuable point when he says, "But if you can speak, you can sing. God designed you to sing and gave you everything you need to sing as well as he wants you to. He’s far less concerned with your tunefulness than your integrity. Christian singing begins with the heart, not the lips (Eph. 5:19)."
There is a lot of pressure in our society to either perform near to or with perfection or don't try at all. I must admit that I have far to often fallen prey to this mentality. The truth is that my identity is in Christ. As such, his abilities are mine, his victories are mine, and his perfection is mine. To be certain, you and I still struggle in this mortal form with our sinful natures, but we are being made new in Christ through the sanctification of our souls. Rejoice in the mercies of God, and use the voice he has given you to proclaim His praise!!!!!! The article is linked below if you'd like to read further. God Bless!!!!
