Principal's Notes
Dr. Douglas Otto Middle School - December 12, 2014
OMS Wins First Place in Canned Food Drive!
Otto received first place among Plano ISD Middle Schools for the Plano Santas Canned Food Drive with 5,313 items donated. Not only did we surpass every middle school, but we collected more items than any high school or senior high as well! Thanks to Brent Truitt, Rob Keahey, and Shelley Lytle for an outstanding drive. Go, Bobcats!
Staff Holiday Party is December 18
We look forward to seeing everyone at our Annual Holiday Party, on December 18, at Love and War in Texas (near the intersection of Plano Pkwy and 75). We will begin at 4:30pm and our Teachers of the Year will be announced. Do not miss this opportunity to celebrate with your Bobcat family.
MAP Testing
As we begin MAP testing, remember to review the testing guidelines with your students before administering the assessment. Also, each administrator should maintain a strict testing environment so that every student has the opportunity to do their best on MAP.
Motivational Mantras from Jamie Bell's Class!
Every staff member should take the time to stop by Jamie's classroom to see the incredible motivational mantras written by her students. Jamie had her students write the mantras in conjunction with goal setting. The statements are powerful, moving, and remind us that we are the key in helping all of our Bobcats realize their dreams.

Rita Attuquayefio is On-Target with Goal Setting!
Rita designed an engaging and informative poster to discuss goal setting with her students.
It's Goal Setting Season at OMS!
All staff must be focused on helping our students establish strong academic goals for the spring semester. The video below is one we showed to the students during our goal setting presentations. I hope you find the clip helpful as you set goals with your students.
[Success] Inspiration to achieve your dreams
The End of the Semester is Near!
As we get close to the end of the semester, it is very important that you work with your students to ensure that they enjoy success academically. Our focus will be on exam grades as well as semester exams. Do not hesitate to enlist the help of the counselors and administrators if you need any assistance.
Have a wonderful and safe Winter Break!
Enjoy a much-deserved holiday with your family and friends.
