Advanced Band - MICCA Gold Medal!!!!
Congratulations to our very talented instrumental music students! On Saturday, April 1st members of our Advanced Band participated in this year’s Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association (MICCA) Concert Festival. This annual three- day festival is open to all bands, choruses, and orchestras that perform at every level from elementary through high school. This year there were eight locations with over one hundred bands performing. This festival is not a competition. Each ensemble plays for a panel of three judges and is rated from 1-5 in nine categories relating to their ability to perform three pieces. Scores are averaged and all ensembles receive one of the following ratings:
5 – Superior (Gold)
4 – Excellent (Silver)
3 – Good (Bronze)
2 – Average (Medal of Merit)
1 – Needs Improvement (Festival Participation)
Our young students played their hearts out and received a gold medal. As a result, they will be invited to perform at the MICCA Gold Medal Showcase at either The Groton Hill Music Center on Saturday, April 15th, or Mechanics Hall in Worcester on Sunday, April 16th.
A special thank you to John Fouracre for his continued commitment and passion to our music program!
State grant awarded to the Norfolk School District for security improvements
School security improvements are coming to the Norfolk School District thanks to a state grant led by our Regional Director of Wellness, Dorothy Pearl. Tens of thousands of dollars will be spread across the Norfolk, Plainville, Wrentham and King Philip districts to help with violence prevention.
The money is being funded to 14 school districts in Massachusetts through the Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance. The Student, Teachers and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Grant Program was created to help enhance school security and prevent violence.

Technology Showcase a huge hit!
I would like to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who attended our recent NPS Technology Showcase. Your presence made the event all the more special, and we truly appreciate your enthusiasm and support.
We hope that you found the showcase informative, engaging, and enjoyable. Our aim was to showcase all the ways we integrate technology in education. We wanted to highlight the many ways in which technology can enhance and support student learning, and we hope that we succeeded in doing so.
We are immensely proud of our students and teachers for their hard work and dedication in preparing for the showcase. It was a great opportunity for them to showcase their skills and demonstrate the innovative ways in which they use technology in the classroom.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to attend the showcase. We look forward to seeing you again at future events!
With appreciation,
Trish Kelley
