Transcendentalism
Transcendentalism is a religious and philosophical movement that happened between 1820s and 30s. It was a protest against the state or spirituality but mostly based on the intellectualism at Harvard University.
Utopian Movement
The Utopian Movement was a time period where men, women, and children decided to between 1820 and 1860. They were searching for there perfect society where they could create and live by there own rules.
Brook Farm
Brooke farm was founded and created by George Ripley. This farm was meant for transcendentalist, who was looking for individual freedom and humane relationships. Physical labor is perceived as a condition for mental well-being and health. So everyday about everyone does about a couple hours of farm work.
Noah Webster
Noah Webster was called "Father of American Scholarship and Education." He wanted cultural independence for everyone in the U.S.
Edgar Allen Poe
Allen Poe wrote a book called "The Imp of the Perverse." It explained how he killed someone and thinks that he will not get caught. The main point of it was to explain how everyone has a point when they explode and do things they shouldn't do in public or against the law.
Washington Irving
He wrote about how everyone in society is has different views.
