Information About ADHD
ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Most people who have ADHD are diagnosed with it in their early school years because it becomes very apparent in children early on due to their lack of control with their behavior or not being able to pay attention for long amounts of time. Approximately 2 million children in the United States has ADHD. Some causes for ADHD are: environmental agents, brain injury, food additives and sugar, and genetics. The treatment for ADHD is simple, medications. The medication will help with their hyperactivity and will provide a longer attention span.
List of Strategies that may be Effective in a Middle Grades Classroom
1). Interactive activities so that young adolescents do not become bored.
2). Students with ADHD can help pass out papers so that they are up and doing something.
3). Have a positive behavior reward system in place for each young adolescent. This will help the students with ADHD to keep on track.
4). Give short term goals to each student. This will help the students with ADHD to keep on track.
