- They are very similar to the Franks but somehow different.
- The dynasty has five branches... The Lombard Branch, The Lotharingian, The Aquitainian Branch, The German Branch , and The French Branch.
Brief bio
Charlemagne
Medieval emperor who ruled much of Western Europe from 768 to 814. In 771, Charlemagne became king of the Franks, a Germanic tribe in present-day Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and western Germany. Charlemagne also fostered the cultural revival.
Pope Leo III
Pope Leo the third crowned Charlemagne emperor of the Romans. In this role, he encouraged the Carolingian Renaissance, a cultural and intellectual revival in Europe.
Pepin the Short
Father to Charlemagne, Pepin the short was four feet tall.
