Native American Heritage Month and Thanksgiving
Here at Little School, we work very hard to be respectful of the beautiful cultures and ethnicities in our community and world. We teach about Thanksgiving through the lens of gratitude and support. We talk about how in the early days of our country, Native Americans and settlers relied on the "three sisters" to survive which are corn, squash, and beans. We create crafts surrounding the foods people eat ate this time of year. We look at pictures of both past and modern cultures and ethnicities who called America home.
Since it is Native American Heritage Month, our teachers share culturally sensitive and award winning literature and material about the Native American Heritage from long ago, as well as today.
We focus on gratitude and appreciation in our chapel lessons this month, as well. This month is one of our favorites because we hear the most profound and thoughtful ideas from our sweet preschoolers as they tell us what they are grateful for.
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Month!

Transition Meetings for Kindergarten and Future Explorers
Each year, we offer two transition meetings for our parents. Our first meeting is our Kindergarten Transition Meeting. At this meeting we will share information about registration, how to register, when to register, and helpful skills you can teach your child to make the transition to Kindergarten smooth. This meeting is for parents of students who will be entering Kindergarten in fall 2024. If you are on the fence about sending your child to Kindergarten or Explorers (for students who turn 5 between April 1st and October 1st of 2024), we recommend you come to both meetings to get all the information you can to make your decisions. The Kindergarten Transition Meeting will be on November 29th and 30th at 9:30am in the Sanctuary.
In December, we will be having our Explorers Meeting. The Explorers program is designed for students who turn five between 4/1/2024 and 10/1/2024. At our parent meeting, we will share what the curriculum looks like, tips for deciding between Explorers or Kindergarten, you will have a chance to speak to the teachers, and we will discuss enrollment options. This meeting will be on December 4th and 5th at 9:30am in the Sanctuary.
Music Class News
Greetings, dear Little School Families! We hope you had a spooktacular Halloween together. Can you believe Thanksgiving month is upon us?
However, in the middle of the month, we will take a brief pause from our Christmas rehearsals to celebrate the tradition of Thanksgiving. We will sing charming songs "Mr. Turkey and Mr. Duck" and "Thanks to Our Father" for our little ones to enjoy.
On behalf of our music team, we want to express our deep gratitude for the privilege of having your children in our lives. May this Thanksgiving season fill your hearts and homes with an abundance of love, good health, peace, and joy.
Love and blessings,
Ms Laura, Ms Sheri, Ms Jana
