School Council Nominations and Election
Dear Parents,
The establishment of school councils is intended to help local boards of education by bringing parents and the community together with teachers and school administrators to create a better understanding of and mutual respect for each other's concerns and share ideas for school improvement. School councils shall represent the community of parents and businesses.
The members of the school council are accountable to the constituents they serve and shall:
- Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues;
- Regularly participate in school council meetings (approximately six per year);
- Participate in information and training programs;
- Act as a link between the school council and the community;
- Encourage the participation of parents and others within the school community; and
- Work to improve student achievement and performance.
Who Serves on School Council?
- Principal
- Four parents (or guardians) elected by the parents; two of the parents must be business persons
- Two certificated teachers elected by the teachers
- The school council may, within its bylaws, increase the number of members, as long as the parents remain the majority.
Meetings will occur throughout the school year at 7:30 AM. If you would like to be considered for the role of Parent Representative, Parent/Business Person Representative, or Teacher Representative in 2022-2023, now is the time to let me know you are interested.
Parent representatives must have a child enrolled at Seckinger High School during the 2022-2023 school year to be eligible for nomination. Standard school council terms are for two years, but parents of 12th grade students would be eligible for a one-year term.
Please use the link below to submit a nomination form to me by May 9, 2022. Parent Elections will be held by electronic ballot May 13-23, 2022. Teacher Elections will be held by electronic ballot May 15-20, 2022.
