November Conferences

Please note that on the school calendar below, Parent-teacher conferences are on November 9 from 3:30pm to 7:30pm and November 10 from 8am to 3pm. We do have a full day of school on November 9, but no school on November 10. Please watch for sign-ups to come out soon.

PBIS Leadership Team Established

Seton School will begin working on Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) for implementation in 2018-2019. PBIS will provide the framework and training necessary for us to foster a positive learning environment where students feel safe, respected, and ready to learn. Our focus will be on three main components: be respectful, be responsible, and be safe.

Our six person PBIS leadership team includes Claire Steckbauer (middle school teacher), Mary Gruber (elementary teacher), Jeff Cole (specials teacher), Angela Nienhuis (early childhood teacher), Dr. Nardi (principal), and Anne Kaufmann (parent volunteer). The team will attend four training sessions and will then help to facilitate the creation of our Seton School PBIS program with the whole staff. During our implementation in 2018-2019, the team will meet monthly to evaluate our behavior data and look for areas of celebration and areas in need of improvement.

If you would like to know more about PBIS, you can view a webinar from the Wisconsin PBIS Network at https://www.wisconsinpbisnetwork.org/assets/files/flash/ThisisPBIS/story_html5.html.

Crafty Helpers Needed

Seton School is looking for a couple of people who are able to recreate the wooden circle room numbers in our hallways. We would like to have a wooden circle installed for every room. The circles will then be repainted with chalkboard paint so that as rooms change their purpose, the circles can also be changed.

If you are willing to make and/or install circles or willing to help paint them, please sign up at the following link. Our goal is to have this complete before Catholic Schools Week at the end of January. Thank you.

Weather Appropriate Clothing

As our weather begins to change, please be aware of what your child is choosing to wear to school each day. With these sometimes cool, sometimes warm fall days layers are best so that your child is not too hot or too cold. For our younger children this is a great opportunity to discuss temperature and weather as well as good decision making.

Part Time Custodial Maintenance Help Needed?

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School is looking to hire a part time custodial maintenance position. It would be no more than 20 hrs a week M-F working in the evenings. Hours during the week would increase during the summer months based on cleaning schedules. Off Holidays and some days when school is not in session unless absolutely needed.

We are looking to hire a responsible, self-directed individual interested in the custodial maintenance field. Experience preferred but not required. If interested, please contact Facilities Manager, Ryan O’Keefe by email (okeefer@sheboyganseton.org,) or by phone (920-980-9100).

Basketball Open Gym

There will be an open gym for all kids in 5-8 grade (girls and boys) who plan on playing for Seton this winter. They will be held on Wednesdays in October from 5-6pm. That would include Oct. 18 and 25. There would not be coaching but merely "crowd control" and some coordination. Thank you.

Recess Supervisor Needed

We are in urgent need of one more recess supervisor for lunch recesses. The hours are 11:15-12:45 Friday only. The position pays $12.25/hour. If you are interested, please contact Monique or Dr. Nardi.

Safety and Facilities Committee

The Seton School Board is organizing a new Safety and Facilities Committee. The primary role of the members will be to identify and prioritize safety and facility (building and grounds) needs so that they can be addressed in a timely and responsible manner. We are hoping to find interested volunteers for the committee who also have an expertise in some area of public safety, construction, or other related fields. If you are interested, please contact Dr. Nardi, Fr. Matthew, or a member of the Seton School Board.

Now Taking Coffee and Tea Orders for October

Our first order was submitted and we are now accepting Mystic Monk orders for October. If you are interested in some great coffee and tea, please have your orders in no later than October 27. Order forms are available in the school office and the parish offices of our three parishes. Orders will be collected monthly throughout the school year.

Boxes Needed

Hello All,

Some of you may be more familiar with our food box delivery than others. Each year we fill and deliver over 200 boxes of food to those in need the weekend before Thanksgiving. We are able to do this due to the generosity of our parish members at St. Clement and Holy Name.

One of my jobs is to collect and store the boxes themselves so that we have something in which to put the food on that day. We have been blessed in having multiple sources over the years that have provided us with boxes all of the same size - boxes built to hold about 8 reams of paper and that come with a lid. The box is approximately 12 x 17" and a perfect size to hold the food we have for each family.

This year it has been a little more difficult to collect the 250 that we need - I currently have only about 125. So I am putting a call out to all of you to help. If you work somewhere that has a copy room or print shop or if you know someone who does, please ask if you can have the boxes when empty. I know that they are in high demand since they are perfect for moving and storing. But even if you only find 1 or 2 boxes, that will help.

As I mentioned, I will store them at my house until November when we need them. You can drop them off at Seton school, at the parish office, in the narthex at Holy Name or Dominican Hall at St. Clement. Or you can call me and I will pick them up. Just be sure to mark them for the food box mission if they don't come directly to me. My contact information is below if you have any questions or need more information.

Thank you for your help in this endeavor!

Weather and Other Closings or Delays

As our Wisconsin weather begins to change, we want to remind you that we will be following the Sheboygan Area School District in weather-related closings and delays. The exception would be days when Sheboygan Public is not in session. In that case we would make those decisions independently.

You can see our announcements on TMJ4, NBC26, and WBAY2. Closings and delays will also be posted on our school website, Facebook page, and Twitter. In addition, we will send out a recorded phone call and a REMIND.
