1st Grade Butterflies Group
Session 1 and 2 2015 /2016
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Butterflies small group. During our first two meetings we discussed group rules, played a "get to know you" game and discussed what the word worry means to each of us. We also read a book called Wemberly Worried, by Kevin Henkes, and talked a lot about all the things that we anticipate will be scary that end up being fun. The girls had lots of great examples of this.
As usual the girls were respectful and enthusiastic.
Kind regards,
Kelly Medvin

Can be specific thought that makes you feel scared. (i.e. scared that Mom will forget to pick you up).
Can be a general feeling, like a fluttery stomach before you do something.
Are normal.
Can get stuck even if you know that the probability of something bad happening is unlikely you still worry.
Can be managed by learning lots of different ways to cope with worries.
Are real and need to be validated.
