First Thanksgiving
Virginia claimed to have had the first Thanksgiving. The Plymouth Thanksgiving of 1621 actually came two years after the celebration in Berkely, Virginia. It took place on December 4, 1619. The true first Thanksgiving was a little different than the idea of Thanksgiving as it didn't involve a feast and Native Americans weren't invited. The group consisted of 38 men.
Wild ponies
Thousands of people watch more than 100 wild ponies swim in an event that's been taking place for almost a century! Every year the "Saltwater Cowboys" corral more than 100 wild horses to swim from Assateague Island to Chincoteague Island all in Eastern Virginia.
Northern Virginia is the internet
Estimates suggest that anywhere from 50 to 70 percent of all Internet traffic flows through data centers located in Northern Virginia. These data centers use up tons of square feet on the land just so you can use the internet. Virginia has actually been a leading provider of cat pictures for over a decade!
