Say Something Week
The week of Oct. 16-20, Lakeview will be participating in the Say Something Program. Too often after an act of youth violence, facts come out that friends suspected or knew something was going to happen, but didn’t know what to do with that information. In fact, in 4 out of 5 school shootings, at least one other person knew of the shooter’s intent, but said nothing. Imagine how much tragedy could be averted if these individuals said something?
The Say Something program raises awareness and teaches students to recognize warning signs, signals and threats; and to “Say Something” to a trusted adult. Through classroom discussions, school club activities and school-wide events, Say Something educates and empowers students to look out for each other and be an upstander.
Here is the schedule for the week:
Tues. 10/17 - Video in E/I with reflection sheet and pledge
Wed. 10/18 - WEB Leaders eat lunch w/ 7th grade students

Holiday Assistance
Dear Families,
The holidays are quickly approaching along with all the wonderful memories made during this special time of the year. The holidays are an enjoyable time with family and friends, however, that does not mean that they are not stressful! I realize some families may need some extra assistance providing a more memorable holiday for their children. Pickerington Schools are teaming up, once again, with the Violet Township Fire Department to help provide some holiday assistance for families in need during this holiday season.
For those out and about during the holiday season, you may see big red boxes throughout the community and in the schools. If you would like to donate a new toy/gift for the holiday season it can be placed in the big red boxes. If you would prefer to donate in other ways, please let me know.
If you would like a request form for holiday assistance this year, please contact one the school counselors at sarah_geiger@plsd.us or jp_oehrtman@plsd.us or 614-830-2200. The request form will then be provided to you, only one per household please. This form is handled in a confidential manner; however, the information will be shared with local agencies. More details will be shared with those families requesting holiday assistance. The forms must be turned into a Pickerington school counselor by NOVEMBER 20th, 2017.
