Cloaking Art, research news, family medicine helps out
A cloak of appreciation for all Art Ushijima has done for JABSOM, Department of Native Hawaiian Health
UH FAMILY MEDICINE AND COMMUNITY HEALTH LIVES ITS NAME -- OUT IN THE COMMUNITY ONCE AGAIN
Family Medicine was out in the community making a difference again and on a hot Saturday in August volunteering at the American Heart Association Heart Walk. Drs. Lydia Rolita and Robin Miyamoto joined MD Residents Angelica, Caroline, Kana and Jacqueline and JABSOM MD students Wakako and Selin plus pre-med student Anela to help screen patients. They did blood pressure, blood sugar and lipid screening on hundreds of participants and were able to connect multiple patients with primary care providers if they did not have a personal physician. The Straub folks said our team made a big difference--there was no line for service this year under the big tent! Good job, Family med!
****(TIP: All departments are welcome to send us their photos and stories of all the great community service done by JABSOM MD and GME programs!)*****
