Happy Halloween!

We wish our Columbia families a safe and happy Halloween! Thank you to the families who attended the second annual Trunk or Treat. Also, special thanks to all of the student helpers who participated as well.

As part of our Eagle Pride Program, students are invited to wear costumes to school on Tuesday. Costumes must be school appropriate with no blood, gore or weapon type items. No masks will be allowed during the school day.

If you are around the Brooklyn area on Tuesday, please feel free to wish our students from CUES a Happy Halloween. They will be doing their annual Costume Parade through the downtown area at 1:30 PM.

Congratulations Columbia Central Varsity Football Team!!

We are headed to game two of the playoffs! Columbia Central will play Blissfield at home on Friday, November 3 at 7 PM. Please join us for this exciting event! Tickets for the game will be on presale this week for $5. We will update you when they are available. Tickets may be purchased at the high school office this week and/or at the game on Friday.

Columbia School District Veterans Day Assembly

Columbia School District is proudly sponsoring a Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 10th at 9:00 AM. Please help by inviting any friend or relative you may have that served in our armed forces. Please call the high school office to RSVP for any veteran who will attend. You may also email We need to know the individual's name and branch of service/military rank. We will also need to know what student at Columbia Central they are affiliated with. If at all possible for the veteran, please wear uniforms or other service/patriotic clothing.

All of our special guests are invited to arrive at 8:30 AM to Columbia Central High School for coffee and muffins. The assembly will include special music, a guest speaker, reading of the Veterans’ names and will last approximately one hour.

Congratulations to Mrs. VanWagnen!

Mrs. VanWagnen has been named the new CUES Principal! We are so proud of her. She is a beloved teacher at Columbia Central High School and will be missed! We are in the process of searching for a candidate to fill her position and will ensure the best person is chosen for the job. Best wishes to Mrs. VanWagnen in her new role!

Class of 2018 Graduation Cap and Gown Product Information

November 29-Seniors receive ordering information during the senior class meeting. Extra information will be kept in the CCHS office.

December 6-Seniors submit grad orders during lunch hours. Mail and web order deadline is December 22.

Payment-$50 deposit is requested. Orders totaling less than $50, please make the payment in full.

Balance Due-Statements will be emailed to those with a balance due the beginning of each month. The total balance must be paid for by March 15.

Distribution-Grad products excluding cap and gown will be distributed to students in late April or early May. Caps and gowns will be distributed to students in May.

Caps and Gowns-The cost is $31. Students are permitted to wear a gown from a sibling or neighbor and can purchase a matching cap and tassel for $18.

A Message to Senior Parents from Mrs. Eccles

Congratulations on your child being a Senior at Columbia Central! Every senior will need to submit both their senior picture and their senior quote by February 1, 2018. If their photo or quote do not meet the requirements, they may be returned to the student to re-submit or may be removed from the yearbook entirely. The requirements for both are as follows:

Senior Pictures:

Must show face

Professional photo (no selfies)

Must be dressed appropriately

Simple background

They do not need to be portrait style

Senior Quote:

Must be 20 words or less

Must be appropriate (No explicit language or imagery)

Kevin Miller makes a difference at Columbia Central Jr./Sr. High School! He leads our Leadership class and works with students to make a positive impact on the community. Recently, we held our annual Blood Drive. In addition, the class works with students at Lyle Torrant, helps lower elementary students through Brooklyn Buddies and so much more Mr. Miller started Communication Camp 19 years ago. This activity helps to breakdown barriers between students and encourages respect among peers. Mr. Miller enjoys spending time with his family and golfing. We appreciate how Mr. Miller goes above and beyond to make Columbia Central a special place! Thank you for making a difference!

Ms. Oliver-Jackson

Ms. Oliver-Jackson teaches at both Columbia Central Options and the Junior High. She is a graduate of Western Michigan University. Coach Oliver-Jackson is the CCJH cheer coach and varsity tumbling instructor at Columbia Central High School. Her hobbies include coaching gymnastics, reading, and writing. She has 3 little bunnies that are absolute pride and joy. Please join us in welcoming Ms. Oliver-Jackson to the Columbia School District family!
