Mondays From The Mesa # 5
Alta Mesa Parent Newsletter (4/20/2020)
Quality Over Quantity
Alta Mesa Families,
Well, we all survived week one of Online/Digital Learning. I know there were some challenges along the way, but the reports I got back from our teachers were that the connection with students was amazing. As a school, we had 75% of our student body access online learning throughout the week. This is a great start, but we would like to have all of our students access the wonderful resources in our virtual classrooms.
One thing that I have heard from parents is they struggle with the amount of work that is coming their way. Our teachers are working hard to provide a quality educational experience during school closure, but I want to stress that as a parent you are helping to facilitate your child's learning and you know your students. The goal for us is to not overwhelm your child with work. As a parent, please work with your child's teacher in creating a schedule that is beneficial to your child's success. The goal is quality time over quantity of time invested in work. It's better to have your child focused and working hard for a shorter amount of time than prolonging the work time and having that cause unnecessary stress and anxiety. Coordinate with your child's teacher on their daily workload. Remember, we are here for you!
The first week was a success, but of course, there were some bumps along the way. Please continue to work with us through the challenges of online learning. If you come up with a problem contact your teacher first and see if they can help with the problem. Then if you need continued tech support email help@eesd.net. We are all in this and learning together.
