We Need Your Feedback

Parents across Illinois once again have an opportunity to participate in the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of your child’s school as it relates to the important elements of school effectiveness.

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by the University of Chicago. All survey responses will be kept confidential. The state will provide survey results for individual schools only if a school has at least 20 percent of parents take the survey. If you have children attending more than one school, we ask that you complete the survey for each school.

To take this short survey:

1. Visit

2. Type and select “Dupage” as "County." (The county is the location of the school district's main office.)

3. Type your school's name into the "School" field and select your school.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey identifies five indicators that can lead to important student outcomes, including test score gains. Research has shown that schools strong on these indicators are ten times more likely to improve student learning. The five indicators that effect school success are effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction.

Thank you for your feedback.

Big picture

Academic Programming

District 204 offers a variety of academic programs to meet the needs of our students. Although assessment occurs throughout the school year for all students, some programs require the gathering of additional information in order to determine appropriate placement. Our identification process for Project Arrow and Accelerated Math programs includes the use of multiple measures when considering the total child for academic programming. We consider standardized and normed assessment data including, but not limited to, the following: Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), Iowa Assessment (Iowa), aimswebPlus, classroom assessments and students’ learning characteristics. If you are interested in discussing this further, please talk with your child's classroom teacher during the upcoming parent-teacher conference. Please use this link to access the district's timeline for our standardized and normed assessments.

Cold Weather Reminders

Hats, scarves, gloves, and boots all help to keep our students warm as they arrive and leave school each day. As a reminder, students will participate in outdoor recess when the conditions allow. The temperature and/or wind chill must be greater than 5 degrees and we also review the condition of the blacktop areas for ice, etc. to ensure that students can safely play outdoors on that day. Please keep in mind that students should have snow pants and boots to play in the snow on days we have outdoor recess. Thank you for helping to make sure that students have what they need for the upcoming cold winter days.

E-Learning Days

Your Kendall Team is working hard to prepare students for our first potential E-Learning Day.

In the event that schools are closed for an E-Learning Day, teachers will provide the day's learning plan to students by 9:05. This will either be through google classroom, an email to parents, or both. Teachers will be available periodically during the day via email. Please be patient as we all maneuver through this new process.

In order to prepare students to be independent on an E-Learning Day, we will have an in-school practice day, this Friday, November 22nd. Teachers will walk students through the process with students here at school. To keep it fun, we will make Friday a Kendall School Pajama day to pretend that we are all at home in our jammies!

If you have questions about how E-Learning days will work for your child, please reach out to his/her classroom teacher.
