NEW LEBANON SCHOOL
Weekly Updates
¿Necesita leer nuestro boletín en español?
Hello Bobcat Families! We hope you have a safe and warm Halloween weekend! As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 2nd. Important updates are below...
Water Bottles
Please be sure to send your child with a re-fillable water to school every day. We have many students leaving class (and important instruction!) to get a cup from the nurse to fill up with water. Thank you for your help with this!
Face Masks
Thank you for sending your child to school with a face mask (and some extras in their backpack!) every day. We have several students who come every day with no mask, so we thank you for your help with this!
As a reminder, if your child is absent for any reason or you need to change their dismissal plan, please call the main office at 203-531-9139. We are open every day starting at 7:30am. We hope to see you this afternoon at Trunk or Treat in the New Lebanon School Bus Loop - registration is required - see below for more information.
Pre-K Applications Coming Soon! Do you have a child turning 3 or 4?
For the 2022-2023 school year, the Pre-K applications will come out in December 2021 and the deadline is around January 10th (final date coming soon). Applications will be posted on the Pre-K website: https://www.greenwichschools.org/teaching-learning/preschool
The link to the website also has our Pre-K Handbook which will give you more information: https://www.greenwichschools.org/teaching-learning/preschool/greenwich-public-school-preschool-program
Questions about Pre-K? Please call Ann Abbott at 203-698-7796.
Linkit Support for Families
At the November PTA meeting, Mrs. Michaelson and Mrs. Eisenstein will offer a special parent & family support session focused on how to access the parent portal, how to read your child's Linkit data, and how to read your child's SBA score report. We hope to see you there!
Breakfast and Lunch - Free For All!
On Friday, we sent home an extra copy of the free and reduced lunch form to every family who has not yet filled one out. Please be sure to fill this out and return it to the main office before Tuesday. If you have never qualified for free or reduced lunch before and your family's income has not changed, you do not need to fill out the form. Thank you for your help with this - it will ensure we can continue to receive free breakfast and lunch for all students at New Leb!
Pre-School Flu Vaccine Requirements
All pre-school children must have received a flu vaccine between 8-1-21 and 12-31-21 as a requirement of the Department of Health.
Attention 3rd Grade Families!
Every third grade family is required to submit an annual physical from their pediatrician for their student. Physicals can be submitted and/or dated from January 2021 - June 2022. Please make your appointment today - doctors offices are very busy! If you think you already submitted your child's physical, you can call Nurse Nancy to double check at 203-531-9139. All physicals can be brought to the main office attention: Nurse Nancy. Pediatricians can also fax physicals to New Leb at 203-531-8556. Thank you!
Attention 4th Grade Families!
If you did not submit a physical last year when your child was in 3rd grade, please also schedule a physical ASAP and bring it over to Nurse Nancy.
Quarantine
There might be a situation where your child is asked to quarantine - please be sure to charge their iPad every night, and ask them to see their Google Classroom on their iPad, so you can start to familiarize yourself with our online teaching platform.
Together in Safety and Learning,
Mrs. Michaelson & Mrs. Eisenstein

Advanced Learning Program (ALP) Placement Process
The Advanced Learning Program has started the placement process for the Grade 2 Pullout Enrichment Program, which begins in January of 2022.
Parent input is a valuable component of the placement process. In order to refer your student for evaluation to the enrichment program, for Language Arts or Math we ask that you provide the committee with your insights. To do so, please complete the google form found at Parent Referral Form: https://forms.gle/DGUZ8YFAfrg9Eck7. This form must be completed by Wednesday, November 10th.
Due to the nature of the accelerated Grade 2 Placement timeline, we are unable to accommodate late referrals. You will have another opportunity to refer in the spring for grade 3 ALP placement should you not want to at this time.

Kids in Crisis SafeTalk program
Dear New Lebanon Families,
During the week of November 8th, New Lebanon School will participate in the Kids in Crisis SafeTalk program. This program, which uses the curriculum of the Child Assault Prevention Project (CAP), is supervised and presented by Kids in Crisis in collaboration with the International Center for Assault Prevention (ICAP).
SafeTalk is a free, proven, nationally acclaimed curriculum that focuses on empowerment and encourages children to be “safe, strong and free.” Age-appropriate classroom workshops combine guided discussion with role-plays that focus on situations children frequently encounter, like bullies, strangers and known adults who may behave inappropriately.
The SafeTalk curriculum teaches children how to recognize and respond to potentially harmful situations and how to express their concerns to a trusted adult. The workshop is completely confidential and respectful of the privacy of each child.
Below is a video for parents to watch ahead of time: https://video.link/w/pJJBc
For more information about Kids in Crisis and the SafeTalk program, please also visit www.kidsincrisis.org or call 203-622-6556. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Kaitlin Cyr
