Superintendent's Report: 1/24/2022
We were glad to welcome our students and staff back in-person today after a week of remote learning. Our student absenteeism was just under 12% today (1/24/22). That’s higher than a normal day, but considering the pandemic is surging and it’s flu season, that’s not entirely surprising. Our staff absenteeism improved today. Had we have been in-person last week, more than 60 employees would not have been able to work in-person due to a COVID diagnosis or quarantine. Today, we had 13 staff members out for COVID-related reasons.
Last year, the Muscle Shoals Education Foundation invested $90,595.00 into our schools and classroom. It’s the highest amount ever! We certainly appreciate all stakeholders who contribute to MSEF, especially if you are a monthly donor.
Congratulations to Tiffany Stonecipher, teacher at Muscle Shoals Career Academy, for having achieved National Board Certification. A couple of others renewed their national board certification - Deidra Brewer and Deirdre Nelson.
Congratulations to Heather Medlin, a finalist for the Choral Music Educators Award at the Alabama Music Educators Conference this past weekend.
Lilly Goodwin represented MSHS as one of 25 girls and one of 50 students in the Alabama All State Show Choir performance.
Tate Pierce has advanced as the regional nominee in the Bryant-Jordan Scholarship Competition for Region 7, Area 14.
