Jags are on the Move!
Hello Jag Families,
It has been another awesome week here at SMS. I have been so excited to see all the school spirit during our homecoming week! During the month of October, we provide awareness activities and we share facts supporting each cause via daily announcements, poster campaigns, game highlights, and/or other charitable events. The Pink Out Volleyball games were awesome last night and our football teams played with class and character.
The Girls Who Code club had an amazing visit last from cyber security speakers from the CIA. Go girls Go! Thank you to all parents who were able to attend the PTO meeting this week. You are so appreciated.
Just a reminder...Fort Bend ISD will be closed to all students on Friday, October 11th (Teacher In-Service Day) and Monday, October 14th (Columbus Day).
Parents, I am asking to consider donating to our Jag Cash Drive. This is our annual fundraiser cash drive. Our Goal this year is $25,000. This is the only cash drive for the entire year. With the funds raised, we have plans to build a shade for the bleachers, bring in new technology for our students, fulfill our Teacher Wish Lists, support the Fine Arts department and many more items. If every Household donates just $20 we will exceed our goal. Please fill out the attached form and drop it off at the front office. We accept cash/check. *It is also a tax write off/exemption.
Sincerely,
Cholly Oglesby

CELEBRATE!
Student Spotlight
Price Hannah has been in the Wind Ensemble since seventh grade and has grown as a leader and musician in that time. He has an awesome work ethic, coming in every day to practice before school on his two instruments which he plays in the Wind Ensemble and the Concert Band! Price also constantly gives of his free time to help with setting up the band hall, keeping the Fine Arts wing tidy, helping with events before or after school or on weekends, or helping other students. Price truly embodies the Profile of a Graduate qualities of a servant leader, compassionate citizen, and collaborative team member!
Staff Spotlight
She doesn’t root for a specific team, because she spends all of her free time watching her boys play soccer. Right now she feels like lives on the soccer field, but when she does have spare time, Coach K loves to read, go to the movies, and she loves kayak fishing with her family. She is loved by students and teachers around the campus, and is known for being able to make anyone laugh.

Hey Jag Parents!
We are so excited about the start of our 2019-2020 school year!! We have BIG plans for this year: exciting new programs and learning opportunities for you and your child to help you navigate through their middle school years. We hope to see you at parent nights and other learning opportunities that we are offering this year. Be on the lookout for dates/times in the parent newsletters and at Open House this week. Below we have included some of the things that are coming up so that you are aware:
No Place for Hate
Mrs. McCune is looking for students to serve on this years No Place for Hate committee. The committee will meet once a month to help plan 3 school wide activities to support acceptance by combating bias, bullying and hatred, and creating and maintaining a positive climate here at SMS. If your child is interested in being on the committee, please have them sign up in the student center or tell their grade level counselor at lunch. NEXT MEETING IS NOVEMBER 1ST.
Level Changes
We will start to process level changes on Monday, September 9th. If your child would like to change their level from Pre-AP to Academic or vise versa, please send them to the students center to pick up a level change form. Please know that there are many steps to this form and the form will need to be completed before any level change is processed. A few things to note ** A conference between teacher/parent will need to happen before any level change is processed **Level changed will not be granted if a child has a 75 or above in the course, per district policy that is provided for you on the back of the form.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email your grade level counselor.
