Sand Creek Zone

Career Pathways available in the Sand Creek Zone

In the Sand Creek Zone, we have three distinct career pathways where students can choose classes and experiences that align with their post-high school goals.

1.) A STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) pathway that includes Computer Science and Manufacturing.

2.) A Business pathway that includes Communication.

3.) A new Sports and Medicine pathway that prepares students for jobs in the sports medical field and/or the medical field.

YouScience results for 9th grade are in!

Last Friday, all 9th graders at SCHS saw their individual results from YouScience that identify career options that maximize a students interests and aptitudes. I know some students were surprised by their results - they didn't think that they had the skills for some careers. Take time to have your student log in and show you their results.

Talking points with your student::

Which part of the "Aptitude Pie" surprised you? Which aptitude did you already know you had?

Did you feel that your "Teamwork Skills" were accurate? What can you get better at?

Which careers were a "strong" or "good" overall fit for you? What would you have to do to prepare for this career?

The Business of Baseball!

Fourteen students went to the Colorado Rockies Business of Baseball day on September 27th and then got to stay to see our team beat the Phillies! The students heard about careers from Public Relations, Marketing and Finance to Team Photographer. The management team fielded questions from our students about careers in professional sports organizations.

Ms. Siemieniec, (esiemieniec@d49.org), SCHS Business teacher, will be organizing similar events to the Nuggets and the Avalanche if you are interested in attending!
