The Weekly Hoot
December 10-16, 2018
Greetings All -
I am sitting here typing this at New Waverly Elementary while we are waiting on results to come in. We are doing great! I can't wait to tell you all of the successes today!
I hope all of you are enjoying your weekend. It's going to be a short one for some of us because of UIL, but seeing the smiles on the kiddos faces when we tell them they have placed in things makes it all worthwhile.
Muffins for Mom is this coming week. I am asking Trina if things can be set up by 7:10 on Wednesday so that everyone has a chance to attend the event with their kiddos. I will let you know. If not, please take turns with your team in making sure that everyone gets a chance to stop by for muffins.
I said this last year, but it still holds true. So many different activities are going to be taking place over the next nine school days. It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, as we all well know. I hope you take the time in your classroom at some point to dim the lights, turn on the Christmas music, read a Christmas story, make a parent Christmas gift, or play a fun Christmas game. My very favorite memories of Elementary school center around the holidays. At some point, I know I learned everything I was supposed to academically, but the things I truly remember are the ways that the teachers made me feel, especially during the holidays. Though it is hard for us to imagine, some students best memories of Christmastime will be things that happened at school. Let's make it as joyful as possible for them, while still trying to maintain our sanity and some type of order! LOL!! No small task, I know! :)
Now that UIL is over, if you have minutes to spare from 3:20-4:15, PLEASE go to Mrs. Buckley's room and lend a hand. There are several things that need to be cut out and hot glued, some stuff that needs to be counted, and just some general "help" for Mrs. Buckley at the craziest time of year for her. It would definitely be appreciated.
Everyone have a great weekend and make some memories!! Headed to one of my best friend's son's graduation party from Texas A&M tonight. Tomorrow, I plan on not leaving the couch after church and just enjoying a day off!
Love to all,
Marcy
Owl Wings This Week Go To...
Also, a VERY SPECIAL kudos to all of the teachers who gave up their Saturday to accompany the UIL students to New Waverly! Mrs. Wagner, Mrs. Amanda Sechelski, Mrs. Donna Gessner, Ms. Nancy Buckley, Mrs. Kelley Tagudin, Ms. Lisa Lara, Miss Erin Allgood, Mrs. Brandy Price, Mrs. Rebecca Cawthon, and Mrs. JJ Oller, your devotion to your students is well-recognized and much appreciated. It is hard to give up a precious Saturday during this time of year, so it really means so much to me that you did. Thank you so much. A true moment of selfless service...one of our five traits we are striving to instill in our students.
