Reopening News
********This entire week students should be in regular school uniform********
P.E. will start the week of August 31- All Students will wear the P.E. uniform on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
August 24, 2020
Grades K-8 - Half of the students will come to school
8:00 -9:30 Families with last names A-K
10:30 - 12:00 Families with last names L-Z
The reason for this is to slowly acclimate our students to their new space, their "bubble", organize their supplies, learn new rules and protocols. This will also give them time to experience wearing a mask in school.
Preschool and Pre-kindergarten - Meet your teacher! Individual times will be scheduled to bring your child to school, see their classroom and meet their teacher. Due to the current circumstances a child may be accompanied by one parent. We know how difficult this can be for our little learners. This year may prove to be extra difficult since this is the only time parents will be allowed into the school building. See the buttons below for signing up!

Enrollment 2020-2021
Student Arrival and Dismissal
Walkers - Students will need to stand on a line to wait for their morning MATH
Car riders- please do not drop off students until you reach their door and have been checked! Once they exit the vehicle, a staff member will take all students temperatures. If they are cleared to go into school, you may leave. If any student has a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or greater, all riders from your car will be instructed to return to your car.
Dismissal
Car riders - Please pick up your students at the same door that they were dropped off at. Have your family sign available for teachers to see and they will call your child from their classroom.
Refer to the diagram for proper doors!
Walkers will be dismissed at the end (must have a walker pass) as well as extended day students.
Please understand that the reason for this is to keep cohorts as separated as possible. We understand that this process may take some extra time. Your patience is greatly appreciated!

Please look carefully for the door your child will enter and exit from. Every student must use their grades door. As a reminder- parents may not walk their child into school.

Face Mask Important Update- No valves!
Face Masks with a valve are not an acceptable face mask at Divine Providence School. (Per Archdiocese of Chicago)
Face masks with vents or valves may be more comfortable for users, because they allow air to escape from the mask; that keeps users cooler. Unfortunately, that can also allow viruses such as coronavirus to escape.
Back in May, health officials warned that this type of mask might benefit the wearer but does little to advantage public health. "The valves actually make things a lot more comfortable because they make the mask a lot more breathable," Dr. Ali Raj, executive vice chairman of the department of medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, told the Boston Globe. "But they don't do anything in terms of filtering out anything the wearer is exhaling." CDC guidance
Face masks
Please remember masks must be a solid color for ALL students preschool through 8th grade. Please take the time to have your child get used to wearing a mask. While at home, you can make it fun with fun designs, but when school starts please remember they must be a solid color.
APPROVED FACE MASKS WOULD LOOK LIKE THESE IN ANY SOLID COLOR:
**NEW** Per the Archdiocese masks with VENTS are not allowed
