For your information

On Monday, all students will receive a packet of information (Virtual School will receive these on book pick up day) It is very important that you carefully look through all of the information and return all necessary forms the next day of school.

A waiver will be included in all packets that must be signed for a student to attend in-person instruction. This must be signed no later than Tuesday, August 25, 2020.

Family name signs are in the packets. Please create your own for Monday pick up. Use a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper and write your family's last name on it with a bold marker.

Walker permission forms need to be filled out and brought back to school in order to be issued walker passes. With the new dismissal process, walkers will be dismissed after car riders.

If you ordered school supplies, they will be delivered straight to your child's classroom. This year, students will not be able to share supplies. Teachers will take the time to help students organize their supplies the first week of school

Reopening News

When we consider how to start the new school year, we need to remember that our students have not been to school in over 5 months. When they return, school will not be what they are used to. For this reason, we will ease our students into this school year. We appreciate your patience and cooperation with the following schedule:

********This entire week students should be in regular school uniform********

P.E. will start the week of August 31- All Students will wear the P.E. uniform on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

August 24, 2020

Grades K-8 - Half of the students will come to school

8:00 -9:30 Families with last names A-K

10:30 - 12:00 Families with last names L-Z

The reason for this is to slowly acclimate our students to their new space, their "bubble", organize their supplies, learn new rules and protocols. This will also give them time to experience wearing a mask in school.

Preschool and Pre-kindergarten - Meet your teacher! Individual times will be scheduled to bring your child to school, see their classroom and meet their teacher. Due to the current circumstances a child may be accompanied by one parent. We know how difficult this can be for our little learners. This year may prove to be extra difficult since this is the only time parents will be allowed into the school building. See the buttons below for signing up!

August 25, 2020

August 28, 2020

We are all ready to begin the new year!

Enrollment 2020-2021

Currently, we have approximately 20% of our students enrolled in our Virtual school. As in the framework from the Archdiocese of Chicago, we must maintain a 3-6' distancing of students while they are in the classroom. All students must be distanced at least 6' for lunch. Currently, we meet the 6' criteria in grades 1, 2, and 3. Other classrooms are very close to 6'. Classroom size range from 13 students to 19 students. Please know, that registration is a constant changing situation and is subject to change.

Student Arrival and Dismissal

Instructions for Arrival:

Walkers - Students will need to stand on a line to wait for their morning MATH

Car riders- please do not drop off students until you reach their door and have been checked! Once they exit the vehicle, a staff member will take all students temperatures. If they are cleared to go into school, you may leave. If any student has a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or greater, all riders from your car will be instructed to return to your car.

Car riders - Please pick up your students at the same door that they were dropped off at. Have your family sign available for teachers to see and they will call your child from their classroom.

Refer to the diagram for proper doors!

Walkers will be dismissed at the end (must have a walker pass) as well as extended day students.

Please understand that the reason for this is to keep cohorts as separated as possible. We understand that this process may take some extra time. Your patience is greatly appreciated!

Big picture

Please look carefully for the door your child will enter and exit from. Every student must use their grades door. As a reminder- parents may not walk their child into school.

Happy Birthday!

Just a reminder that birthday treats will not be allowed in the classroom this year. Birthdays will be celebrated with the class.

Face Mask Important Update- No valves!

Face Masks with a valve are not an acceptable face mask at Divine Providence School. (Per Archdiocese of Chicago)

Face masks with vents or valves may be more comfortable for users, because they allow air to escape from the mask; that keeps users cooler. Unfortunately, that can also allow viruses such as coronavirus to escape.

Back in May, health officials warned that this type of mask might benefit the wearer but does little to advantage public health. "The valves actually make things a lot more comfortable because they make the mask a lot more breathable," Dr. Ali Raj, executive vice chairman of the department of medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, told the Boston Globe. "But they don't do anything in terms of filtering out anything the wearer is exhaling." CDC guidance

-Eat This, not that.

Face masks

All students ages 2 and up must wear a face mask to school daily and have an extra mask at school. Masks must be a solid color. Masks are also available through our uniform company, Schoolbelles. Their link is below by uniform code 2020-2021

Please remember masks must be a solid color for ALL students preschool through 8th grade. Please take the time to have your child get used to wearing a mask. While at home, you can make it fun with fun designs, but when school starts please remember they must be a solid color.

**NEW** Per the Archdiocese masks with VENTS are not allowed

Health requirements

Please note carefully the areas to be completed on the form by: a) parents, and b) physician. These areas must be completed and signed by the proper persons. Please be certain also to fill in the heading of the form with the child’s name, address, age, grade, birthdate, etc. Any incomplete form will be returned to you for completion. With your cooperation, we will be able to update your child’s health record and there will be no need for additional requests for missing information.

The completed form may be returned to the school office at any time before the first day of school, and no later than September 1, 2020. The law insists that no child is to be admitted to school without a physical.

Thank you for your cooperation in this important matter.
